Hello to all. I have a 09 Uly that just hit 12k. It first started acting up last week. I thought I might of gotten some bad gas. I did add some Lucas fuel treatment to that tank. On that tank of gas I got about half the normal miles out of it. The next two tanks it started getting hotter that normal and the Yellow V twin light would come on but not flashing. I was getting a little less miles of each tank. Then the Idle would be rough when it was in neutral when the light was on. I would cruse a little bit and the light would go off, then it would come back on. I could not really determine or make a pattern on what driving condition would cause it to come on. Then this morning it would not stay running. It would start sputter and then die. If I gave it gas it would run but ROUGH. I had it tune up and all the fluid changed about 2k mile ago. This is my first bike and I'm learning as I go. Any and all help is welcome. I'm in Tacoma WA | ||

Since the Check Engine Light came on, there will be a code stored that probably gives a big clue as to what the problem is. It could be the O2 sensor, for example. Do you know how to check the code? | ||

+1 on finding out which code is showing reference the Check Engine Light. Will definitely point to what may be happening. Also, pull the airbox cover and the cover over the air filter, then open the throttle and look into the manifold. If kinda gooky/nasty with oily residue, the Idle Air Control assy may be gummed up, causing the idle and fueling issues. Hope this helps, Dave | ||

Good Morning Thank you for your reply I'm going to have to say that I DO NOT know how to check for the code. I found the port on the left had side of the bike. I took a piece of wire and tried to jump the 1 and 2 pins but nothing happened. From what your saying the check engine light dose not need to on to get the codes from it. I did have the bike turned to on and set to run. I REALLY don't want to take it to Harley dealer Dave Yes I pulled the air box and I'm lucky there is no gooky stuff up there. My air filter was little dirty but not bad. | ||

If you turn the ign on and the stop/run switch to run, the Check Engine Light will come on, then go out after 4 (?) sec. If it stays on, a current fault is happening. If it goes out, no current faults, but a historical code may be in there. And yeah, connecting pins 1 (at about 2 o'clock) and 2 (about 4 o'clock) should allow you to read the codes. Turn ign on and wait 8 sec for flashes. The Idle Air Control module is attached to the top of the throttle body, has a 4 wire connector. You have to remove the air box floor to get to it. May not be your issue; there is/was a how to in the knowledge vault about cleaning it. Hope this helps, Dave | ||

Dave I get no flashing yellow light at start up. I'll try again when I get home to get the codes to pop up. I'm going to remove the plugs and look at them. I'll look for that how to Has anyone used SEAFOAM on their bike? I used on my truck and it worked. | ||
