Hey Y'all!

I just put a Superbike bend handle bar on the 'ol 9S. Upgraded to Traction grips while I was at it (I like them, thanks for the advice). This bar puts my hands about 2 inches farther forward and down. It's also a bit wider. You would think it would feel more aggressive, but it doesn't. Not any less comfortable either. It just feels different. It also wheeeeelies easier now too. I accidently pulled a nice 3rd gear wheelie whilst speeding through the gears yesterday. Huh? Shouldn't it wheelie harder with more weight on the front wheel? The handling seemed to diminish too with heavier and slower turn in and a less planted feel. Weird, right? Nope. I realized yesterday (3rd ride with new bars) that the new bar position naturally put my @$$ back further back in the seat, thus unloading the front tire, thus easier wheelies and diminished turn in and feel. Solution? Keep the bars (I do like them) and simply move my crotch up to the airbox cover when I want to handle aggressively. That fixed it (actually made for quicker turn in than before with a rock solid feel). Oddly enough, the increased wheelability is OK with me. Ride safe.

You have a link to the bars or pictures?

Yeah, I'd like a picture or a link too. Have you noticed if the bars hit the airbox cover when tuned all the way to the right or left?

They are Bike Master Superbike bend. You can get them from Arizona Motorsports (I forget the www). I actually ordered them cheaper from my local Honda/Yamaha dealer. Take care to mount the controls. I have them so they just clear the tank by about 1/4". I just got back from another ride and really like them now. Want to wheelie? Sit back. Find some spirited corners? Move up and lean in. It's really versatile and makes the wind a bit easier as I do lean forward a bit more. Overall, a really good mod for $15 plus grips.
