I was worried that Corbin was going to put a lower rear section on the seat as they had said something to that effect a while back. I shouldn't have worried, though, it's huge. I just can sling a leg over. The rubber gubbins on the back of the seat are still too far apart and sit on top of the tail section so I'll be whittling on them this afternoon. The latch is spot on this time so no mods are needed there. =) The tank bag is 1000 denier cordura, with 2 thicknesses everywhere. I ran the straps under the airbox cover and over the airbox. The straps are inboard of the airbox cover mounting bolts. There are 4 Delrin side release buckles so I can take the bag off without having to remove the straps. Bob, so is that the "clubtail" model or the flatter model? I ask because my girl would kill me if I eliminated her seat. She doesn't get to ride with me often, but she wouldn't be too happy. I know she enjoys going with on occasion and I ain't gonna take that from her. But, then again, I could just keep the stocker for those times and just switch 'er for the two up. I dunno. Evil: Definitly the Clubtail. It's so tall I just can get a leg over. I do have a 28" inseam so that might be part of the problem. I now feel like I'm actually a part of the bike. I don't slide around and I don't have to strain to hold onto the grips when I drop the hammer. Bob | ||

Hey Ned, Are you planning on keeping the stock seat and the hand guards or are you thinking about selling them? Also, from past experience with Corbin seats on several bikes, they tend to soak up water if you let them sit in the rain without covering... since I use rain as a primary method of cleansing my bikes, this proved to be a bit of a nuisance. It caused an ailment I like to call "stink leg" (which is where you sit on a perfectly dry looking motorcycle, yet get wet patches on your thighs that smell of moldy dog hair from the stagnant water that is lurking inside the seat foam). Fair weather guys never have this problem. | ||

I've still got plenty of Cordura left over from the tankbag project. I figure I'll make some sort of cover for it. I'm not selling anything I've taken off the bike. Well, maybe that crummy seat. It didn't come with the bike. The too-tall seat that did come with it has been Shur-formed into something a a good bit more manageable but still not as nice as the Corbin. Bob |
