I've read that many are running the Pirelli Diablo tires, and quite a few mention Metzler M-1. I acquired my XB9S with 1,100 miles and the tires looked okay. Now the mileage is up to only 2,300 and the rear looks about shot and it has little flat spotting. Must be super thin. And I rode moderately on generally smooth roads. The best prices I've found have the two tires within one buck, coming to just under $220 delivered. If there are better prices I'd appreciate knowing. Also, what about the Metzler MEZ4 which is called sport touring? I'd hope for over 3,000 miles from tires. The Michelin Pilot Sport (rear) on my M1000S was shot at 3,000 and I'd like to improve |

Diablo or M1 seems to be what everyone here likes. I've got M1s right now and love 'em. All you've heard here is true. I'll go to the Diablos next to see which one I like best. Shred has used both and swears by the Diablos. We do the same kind of riding on the same roads, so I'm looking forward to seeing for myself. The price you've got sounds fair enough. |

Shorty, I'm using the Diablos and am very pleased with them. Much better than the Dunlops. Still have chicken strips on both, and have turned sharper with them than I ever did with the Dunlops, and they had no chicken strips left. Your price is better than I had found. Dan |

Price is about right... the mention of Shred and the experience with both is the first I've heard of it so I'll certainly try the Diablo's next. I use the M1's now and LOVE them. You do indeed need to lean them WAY over to touch the outside edge. I'm working on getting rid of my front chicken strips now . I have a feeling I may need to get shorter clipons first . Anyone know if they make Diablos w/ raised yellow letters? |

I got no strips. We play in the mountains every weekend though. Anyone know if they make Diablos w/ raised yellow letters? The only ones I saw were painted on by the owner. |

I know a few folks who painted them on & while I know its a new fad, I think it just looks goofy. |

My Maxxis tires came with yellow letters. Only tires I've ever had that had yellow letters. |

The MeZ-4 has been replaced by the Z6. Great tire (I have a set on another bike) but it doesn't heat up and get all sticky like the Sportecs, which almost seems to defy the laws of physics if you get them hot enough. Michelin Pilot Sports are another good pick. They have lasted a little longer than the Sportecs for me, but they are expensive. |

Pilot Sports are the gear I usually run. I buy them from a guy who works at a dealership when try hards take them off their new bikes and fit Diablos. Combination of dirt cheap 2nd hand pricing and a good tyre make them ideal. |

The other set I have been contemplating is the Michelin Pilot Powers. I've heard good things about them but I really like the Sportecs... Decisions, decisions. As far as the raised letters I wouldn't paint them on or choose a tire based on having them, but I do like them. I have raised white letters on my Mach-1 (it's white with the original black stripes) and my Sonoma GT. I think they look good at about five miles an hour. I had no idea they were a fad (I'm in AZ, I don't think it's a fad here...). |

I mostly just commute with the ocassional fun.I have not had them lose traction yet ,and I've been caught in the rain more than a few times. There was an article in cycleworld about them a few months back, seems the designer was a designer on the Diablo's or something like that.I paid $212 for both including shipping.I will buy them again. |
