hi guys, my bike fell over in the wind the other day (long story!) and snapped the front brake lever just wondering if anyone can give a quick runthrough on the method of replacing the front brake lever thanks in advance morgan |

Just the lever? Should be straight forward. Take out the bolt that holds it in. Remove "nub" Insert new lever. Replace bolt. Haven't done it, there may be a spring involved. But I'd bet it's an easy replacement. |

I have taken mine apart to change the bars. Very simple. Do what Glitch said. Don't remove the cable until you take the lever out of its mount by just pulling backwards. Cable will then just slide right out. Reverse procedure and bolt back together. Done! 3%ers |

If you can't source a Buell lever then the one from a 2004 Yamaha R1 is the same. |

2004 Yamaha R1 is the same. We can use parts from Dyna's bike! |

Since when did our front brakes become cable actuated? |

I was...D'oh!! Never was good at reading the instructions before I start. Guess it would of helped to read the entire question. (Message edited by black_sunshine on September 22, 2004) |

If we swap one from a R1 can we do 172? Maybe it's like putting a "Type R" sticker on a Honda? I've done that swap... I dropped the bike in a parking lot. There is a spring involved, but it's part of the lever. It's a one bolt job. You'll want to squeeze the lever a couple times before you ride it just to be sure it's working properly. After I swapped mine the first pull was VERY mushy but immediately afterwords worked beautifully. |

I think so. Looks to me like you pull the works off. Take off and replace the bent bar. Put the works back the way you took them off. I don't think the bars are very expensive. |
