i am a new buell, xb12r owner. i run nothing but 93 octane, but get a ping under load, not always, but enough to be anoying. anyone know a cure? also if it is higher octane needed, where in chicago can i fill up? thanks, dan | ||

Do you have the race chip? My X1 used to ping till I went with the race chip. Where in Chicago are you? I'm also in Chicago. I saw a Marathon gas station out by O'Hare that had 100 Octane no lead. It wasn't cheap. | ||

Dan, there was a thread on XB's pinging here about a month ago; search and you can probably find it. One thing you can do is try different brands of 93 octane; all brands aren't created equal. (My Ford truck for instance will run fine on BP/Amoco 87 octane but requires 89 octane for other brands.) Another suggestion IIRC was to have the timing checked. | ||
