I purchased their CD. It is just a copy of the notes that were handed out to Italian HD school on servicing harley's.

Hey Beast,
I would like a copy of the service manual. Can you put it on a FTP site so I could just download it? Just wondering. Or what would be the postage for you to send it out to Wisconsin, USA?

I am interested in a pdf manual as well if you don't mind!
I think such a thing would be an excellent addition to the Knowledge Base, barring any legal difficulties of course...

I can dump it on my FTP server but with only 384k upload it'll take you awhile.
It's available on a couple Buell sites already.

Is there a copyright on that document? We have had it offered before, and refused, as we were concerned it was illegal to redistribute.

Not to mention, somebody busted their to write the thing, and from what I have seen of the price versus volume versus content, Buell is not selling them for much of a profit.

Please, even if you want a digital copy (which I could understand), buy the printed one as well. It does not make sharing the digital one any more legal, but it does make it a little more ethical.

I can appreciate that....the last thing I want is to violate or infringe upon any copyrighted material or the DRM act for that matter....

I do hope that the knowledge from the service manuals can still be shared here though....

The book is well worth the money, best manual ive read better than any haynes or cylmer. Nice to be able to print the odd page off to work from though saves the book getting grubby.
In the first instance you should buy the printed copy(repairmanual.com is where i got mine). Will leave you to find the digital one out there on the www.

I have every Buell manual every printed, in a word they are excellent.

Buell produced Service and Owners Manuals during during the "let's get a bit ahead of ourselves" era in 1996.

I have a case of the CD's but suggest the printed manual first. Personally, I own the service manual to protect me from myself.

I am no Aaron Wilson or Ron Dickey.

saves the book getting grubby.

I put finger prints in there on purpose - just to get over it : D I once bought a bicycle maintenance book that already had fingerprints printed on and in it.

The service manual combined with the parts manual are your most important "tools" for wrenching on your Buell.

Lets see...

2000 M2 service manual, check
2000 M2 parts book, check
1998 S1 parts book, check
1996 S1 service manual, check
1997 S1 supplement for the service manual, check
2003 XBS parts book, check

Sometimes you need the books with you when you walk into the dealership.....

Buell is loosing money on every manual they sell, beleive me -- the cost to gather the data, codify it, have it reveiwed, print it, ya da ya da ya da is pretty bloody big . . . . .

they are among the best I've every used (source, me, wrenching since the Johnson administration {second}) and wrote manuals for quite some time -- the folks that do the manuals do great work!

Yeah they're dirt cheap from repairmanual.com and the time for delivery is unbeleivable (3 day to Aust). You'll probably need the printed version anyway cause the pictures suck in the digital copy. I think the file size is 84Mb for approx 500 pages. I have a ZX6-RR manual that is 253MB and a GSXR-750 that is 182Mb for similar pages and the difference in quality is so much better. I consider the Buell maual to be a little hard on the eyes.

PS I always buy the paper copy to leave in the garage and the digitl to check stuff on.

The service manual isn't written in the first place for us, but for the servicing dealerships. The costs for that are spread out over every bike they sell. Just like the rent or maintaince of the buildings they are in. They are not loosing money on it, that would be just plain stupid. When you bought your bike, you paid a part of that manual.

It would be naive to think that a commercially driven company like Harley Davidson is gonna give something away that hasn't been paid for.

My 2 cents.
Ingemar.
