Hey all I've run into a small problem while doing a engine swap. I have a XBRR frame with a 08 12r motor. I pulled the motor to rebuild and was going to drop the frame onto a 06 motor and swing arm I have for the time being but it does not fit on the rear isolator. Did the XBRR or Ulysses frames have a different width isolator? I have been trying to remove the mount from the 08 engine, but that is proving to be difficult. Any ideas? Thanks | ||

I know the frames were different lengths, dont know about the rear mount though. Drill or cut the heads off of those bolts, that will give you room to get them out when the mount is out of the way. I had one that was so tight I wrecked several wrenches and finally the bolt head. Drilled/cut it off and spun the rest of the bolt out by hand. | ||

Taking mine off I used a long allen wrench with the short end cut very short. This was just good enough to clear the rubber, may have used a small pipe for extra leverage. Going back on I used a long ball head socket, only way to get proper torque. Don't know about frame differences though. In the morning you could always call the dealer's parts department and ask for the part number for the 06 rear isolator and see if it's different. The 08 is L0502.02A8 for all models. If the 06 is another number then there could be a difference. | ||

I think I figured it out, the rubber on the motor was separated instead of being squished together. I didn't realize that it was not supposed to be that way. So I guess I need a new mount. |
