Certainly not a new topic, however, and having followed much of the advice in a couple of Buell forums - I'm still stumped. Issue is that the bike will burp and cough after riding for about 20 minutes (3000 RPM range) then ultimately cough one last time and come to rest!! Thereafter, the check engine light comes on and she refuses to start until its had time to cool down for at least 30-40 minutes. ECMSpy does not bring up any current/historical codes even after I plugged it in when the bike last failed and was in the "won't start" phase. The bike is stock less an EBR race ECM I switched out after the OEM one failed (crack in body). I've inspected the ECM and there are no signs of wear/fractures in the body. In addition, I've checked all grounds both under the seat and at the cabling behind the front fairing. Interestingly, at an idle she'll run all day and the fan activates when it's supposed to come on (monitored on ECMSpy). Again, not sure where to go from here, any suggestions would be most greatly appreciated.

Have you done anything to check the cam position sensor?

gas tank suck? that's the Guzzi term for vacuum in the tank so fuel won't flow.. do you get a woosh if you open the cap when this condition happens?

I would suggest replacing all 4 relays in the fuse box. Mine was doing that and it turned out to be a failing relay... Replacements were $5 at the local harley shop...

Mine is the same year and has had similar dying/failure to restart problems. I suggest the following 2 areas: 1) Seat pressure on the ECM plus vibration causing the wiring harness to loosen up . I once was able to restart mine after pushing the plugs back in.
2) Chaffing of the wires on the fuel pump wiring harness. Pump is inside the frame, difficult to get to unless you are a pretty good mechanic and got lotsa tools. Search these topics for hours of reading fun.
