I've done 400 twice in three days with about 150 in the middle and, I've done six or seven 450's and a couple 600's... No problems here, I'm 5'10". I have found that I can lay forward on the airbox and let by legs dangle for a position change. I tend to only do this after about 350 miles and after about 3 minutes I can put my legs back on the pegs for another 100 or so...

Waves...Hi, Remember me, I traipse all over the Southwest as well as went from Detroit to Appleton and back for DaveS' Sportbike day : )
I have no problems running 300-400 miles on my bike and I have race set rearsets that sit higher then the "R" pegs do. I also have a metal rod in my right leg and pins in my left ankle that get grouchy about the 250-300 mile mark. But then people think I am crazy to ride my XB like its a touring bike...

I was in Southfield but I am not anymore. Personal reasons that have no place here. Guess I should update my profile again.

Shred and I often ride 200+ mile days when we get the chance.
The longest day so far was a trek up to NC and back in the same day, no interstate, 600+ miles that day.

I forget how much it was exacltly, but I think I covered about 1600 mls in three days. Only the last 100 mls were really cumbersome. The last few miles were when my knees started to hurt beyond reasonable levels. 2 minutes before I came home I HAD to stop. My brother was holding my bike and I simply dropped on the road like a piece of rotting fruit. After a few minutes I was able to get back on and continue home.

Those tough protection pads in the knees are history now. They were causing those pains in my knees.

Other than that, no problems.

572 miles is my longest day on a XB9R. I've done plenty of 300-400 mile days.
I stop about every 100 miles, gas up, have a smoke or 3, a big Diet Pepsi, hit the bathroom and away I go for another 100. If I stop this often, I can keep going all day long.
I'm 5'9" and 41 years old.

I ride the S model with a Corbin saddle. In may this year i went 1015 miles in 22 hours, on Alaskan roads ( these aint interstates) included some gravel, lots of construction, etc. For me the XB12 S is an ideal sport touring mount.

So far the longest I've done in one day is 300, not a problem. The next day I rode 250 and my legs started to cramp up toward the end...but it may have been because I was rock climbing all morning and didn't stretch out before/after. Also the butt started to get sore toward the end of day 2, but I'm not buying the R touring seat until I try one out.

Next year I plan to do the Minnesota 1000 (1000mi in 24hrs). I hope to figure out if I want Helibars before then.

DaveS, I might be coming down with some guys from St. Paul HD for the Oct. 30 mtg, that will be a ~500mi day

816 miles is my longest day on an XB. Denver to Sturgis to Denver in about 14 hours. Surprisingly enough I wasn't even sore the next day. Lightning pegs and a stock seat under my 34 year old heinie.

Hey Mookie, I'm also 6'4" and feel fine running around AZ and So Cal. 400-500 feels fine on the XB. I have to admit, I move around alot after about 150. Lay forward, lean back, lay forward, again, again.....

MP3 player makes the time fly on long journeys. Stops me thinking about my butt, knees and wrists.

I've done 200,300,400+ days on my XB9R. I've tried the S pegs for a little more leg room (I'm 5'10",45),they were ok but I now have the Traction pegs on and like them the best. The seat is (was) a issue, at Daytona 03 we did a coast to coast ride (Daytona to Tampa to Daytona in one day) and I was VERY uncomfortable on the way back. Said that seat has to go! (except for track days) I picked up the touring seat and have done several trips this year, along with the "famous" weasel squeezer bicycle shorts. Ok now. My feeling of the XB is that you have to ride a least 100 miles non-stop and you appreciate what Eric has designed into the Buells, you just feel like the bike is a extension of yourself. Kinda in the "zone" then you can do some miles. Oh ya, gps, Autocom with music helps too on the boring roads,...(and a cell phone conversation once in a while)...

I think I see a pattern here. It looks like most of the long distance guys have 'R's. I guess that fairing has some benefit after all. I know that on a naked (bike that is) the wind blast can wear you down.

No probs for me, until after 70mph, or until a head wind. On second thought, you may be on to something.

Me and some family went up to laconia this year and did something like 1100 miles in 3 days. The trips up there and back were the worst though. All highway all pretty much straight. I was good for the first 3 hours but the second 3 or 4 my seat started to feel like i was sitting on a wooden plank and my knees started to cramp a bit. But the seat should be a problem anymore, my corbin comes in a day or 2 . By the way im 5,11 250 lbs. On a side not what gps unit is everybody using. and starter did you just run the headphones under your helmet or do you have some other setup to hear the music.

Stainlessmag- gps- Garmin Streetpilot III, audio- Autocom Pro M1, I have music(anything you want, radio, cd, mp, etc.), cell phone input(works great!), and intercom to passenger, plus add-on 2-way radio. That's my setup, and it's all in/on my Buell tankbag, fed from the Battery Tender plug, so it's easily removed for track days, etc.... hope that helps!
