Ok people I love my Lightning long but my daily rides and commute has changed from mostly open 2 lane road and interstate 50 - 70 mph to town and stop & go traffic jams the 12ss is jerk jerk jerk in first gear at 15-20 mph looking at a few local city X 9 bikes for sale and want to keep the 12ss but is there really that much difference ?

Before doing something as drastic as getting a new bike, I would look into getting the XB9 primary drive.

It shortens your overall gearing by 11% making it more manageable at lower speeds.

I concur. This is the performance upgrade! Much cheaper than buying a new bike. And, you can swap back if you need to in the future.

What year as do you have? I had a xb9sx and it was a great city bike. Smooth running and way less heat.

I know have a 06 Ulysses and I'm still using it for in town duty. The jerking on the 12 engine is aweful. I ended up putting a race kit on my bike and that helped but in the end I tuned the bike and its pretty smooth now.

If your bike is a 06-07 and you have the race kit I can send you my map to try and see of that helps. If not I say get the 9, they are a much more enjoyable bike to commute on.
