If what you are trying to say is that Mike Cicotto would not choose to set up his FX race machine with one inch less suspension travel you are right. Congratulations on that.
And let's be clear. I was very polite. I'm on no "power trip"; the fact that you behaved badly here necessitating my intervention is a total pain in the ••• and I abhor having to do it. So please shut your mouth as you said you would, or mark my words you will find your access to this board denied. My patience on such matters lately is nil. One more word on the issue from you and you are gone. |

I don't have time to read this entire thread....let me see if I get this right...a Canadian with 3 Buells spends his days riding over speedbumps? Next time the kid sits at the computer....stay and watch.
Slays me while I waste my time anywhere but here...

Hogs the problem is that Buells have that crappy under-engine pipe. If the low model came with a regular side mounted pipe you wouldn't have that problem. Oooo...Buell should have done underseat pipes cause they look bad-azz. Hell, you could aim for potholes that are at least 6" deep just to laugh at the world. |

Hogs - if you're so worried about touch down on a CG buell, how in gods name do you manage to ride your harleys aroung with all those craters & your 2 inches of travel...???
And there are only 2 ways of getting full compress on an XB - 1 - jumping off a 6 foot ledge (unlikely). 2 Turning VERY fast on a medium sweeper (unlikely as you have no turns in "craphole ND"...) And even in the event you found some turns north of the border, bottoming while hitting a roadbump at very high speed in a corner, is the least of your worries as you and the bike would be on a interstellar trajectory into the weeds regardless.
So what's the prob.? |

Dear Mavis Bacon,
It would be greatly appreciated if you could send a formal letter to the myopic engineers at Yamaha that are about to reinvent the wheel with their MT-01.
As we discovered in class today, something underneath our engines, such as a shock or muffler, greatly diminishes our clearance to the ground and that we are no longer capable of clearing tall road kill in a single bound.

No. Blake wins this one because he's right and you're wrong. As shown in the chart above, at full compression the low models don't give up any ground clearance to standard XB models. Case closed.

True, but then a pothole the size of a deer would cause a little more damage than just a little scraping sound and a dent in your muffler.
Heck, your bike would most likely be totaled in the event you smacked into one...even with a contemporary dual purpose bike or adventure tourer.
Did the wheelie jump thing over a similarly sized log on a trail with my old KLR, but that was a firm log, not a wiggly deer carcass. Have the feeling that semi-jello like consistency would have a different feel, eh?  |
