I recently purchased a 2005 xb12s. Bike now has 11k miles after I put a little over 1k this week on it. The clutch cable snapped at the lever yesterday. This has happen on an old triumph I had at about 14k miles, but my ? Is should I also replace the front brake cable when I bring her in for service, or should that be able to last longer.. Thanks Slurpy |

Old Triumphs had cables, but your Buell does not. Braking on a Buell is hydraulic. The clutch cable (if properly and regularly serviced) should last quite a bit longer than 11k miles. The pivot point where the ferrule rides in the clutch lever also needs regular lubrication or it will not pivot as designed and the cable will bend back and forth at that point and snap. Be CERTAIN not to over-tighten the NEW clutch cable the the primary case or you WILL snap it off! (just tight enough to ensure that the o-ring will seal the cable where it enters the primary. Hope this helps. |

Newer clutch cables do not need lubrication, except at the pivot end at the clutch lever. |

Can I have your old clutch cable and jacketing? I'll pay postage I've got a project on the back burner and could really use the intact jacket with ferrule and adjuster. Cable will be cut to legnth, so it doesn't matter if the end is snapped off Thanks |
