I recently swapped my stock exhaust for a Jardine. I cut the cable, but left the actuator hooked up under the airbox cover thinking this wouldn't make the ECU think there was a fault. Apparently there must still be feedback from the exhaust to the ECM, to ensure the actuator is working... Does anyone have a fix for getting around this, so I quit seeing my CEL?

I believe you can turn it off with either ECMspy or TunerProRT...Could be wrong but im 99% sure thats how its done.

Running the stock ECM with that pipe is asking for trouble in the long run, EBR makes a Race ECM for that pipe, it is tuned for it and will fix the CEL.

I was planning on ordering an ECMspy cable soon, I have a friend who sent me the race maps. Is there any reason why the EBR race ECM is better than just using ECMspy and loading the race map?

Performance wise generally not..the ebr is reputable and has support...a race map dowloaded off the web generally isnt nearly as trustworthy....tuning your stock map is probably the best way to go...you familarize yourself with tuning and the end result is a custom map.

The EBR ECM has changes beyond just the fuel maps, plus they offer tunes specific to certain exhaust setups, not just some generic map that came off who knows what bike with who knows how correctly it was tuned. It is more plug and play (just needs a TPS reset), but yes you would learn more about how these bikes work if you did change your fuel map yourself or followed a tuning guide and made your own tune.

Regardless what you do, be sure to relocate your ECM if it is in the stock position, on the Ulysses it is a bit of an issue with the seats hitting the connectors and causing ECM failures. : )

I'm new to the forum and fairly new to the bike, coming up on a year shortly. Lately I have seen a few posts about the ECM relocation, so it is on my radar. Either way I need to get a ECMspy cable to do a TPS reset, boooooo having an '07... So I will start with that and load up my own race map, there is a good amount of info of how it was collected, and it sounds like they did a swell job. Probably a stupid question, but are there any values/data I could watch to know if it staying healthy with the new exhaust and map?

The 07 stock maps are pretty darn good. You get one little cough after about a mile on a cold engine, but other than that the fueling is great.

AFV of 100 is perfection, 95-105 normal. When you look at fueling numbers in that "race" map it should flow and make sense--- bigger numbers as rpm and throttle position increase for the most part. Not have more fueling at 1900 rpm than at 3400 for example.

just a quick update to close this thread, since I'm sure this could turn into a thread posted in the wrong section. the ECMspy program has a deactivation option for fault code 21, so now I have no more annoying codes popping up. also, after a TPS reset and the race map uploaded holy crap does that change the bike around! I about looped it, I was riding around and having some fun, went to pop a wheelie like normal and this thing came up to what felt like 11 oclock sooooo fast it was scary
