Hi all,
Need a little help, I have a 08 based XB12R track bike. It's running a stock motor with a EBR ECM , micron exhaust. The engine is tired and needs to come out. I have a built engine off a 04, is it possible to use that motor with the 08 wiring harness? What will it take to do the transplant?
Thanks

No.
The brains and therefore sensors are all different.

2008 and up use a timing pickup directly off of the flywheel up front while earlier ones still had the "points cover".

You would have to swap out the brain and also harness along with throttle body and all other odd sensors.

I would wager you could rebuild the 2008 faster : )

Yeah that's kinda what I figured, what if I swapped wire harness with a earlier? Find a ecu and harness from a 06 and earlier, throttle body, and I should be good?

He did the opposite of what you describe.
Perhaps he can set you up with the left over parts too!

Hugh ended up swapping wiring harnesses, and I ended up with his old parts.

Well i think i will try the harness route. I have this engine thats fresh, big rod ends, higher compression, head work. Its a shame not to use it. Ive got a 06 street bike i can rob parts from, if it works, i could source the parts to get the street bike runnin again.
Or just buy a harness off ebay...
