Same bar's Cross Roads.Al just doesn't have them listed as that in his catolog. But he does have them on his shop bike.Right now he's having some built from them.I guess he wasn't so happy with the way they felt for long rides either.

Are you sure those are the same? The picture looks like ya replace the whole top end. The Crossroads on the link strap around the tubes. A.B.S looks like something completely different. Could they be new?!

The ones we currently sell are the stock crossroads. They are plenty nice, great about town, but a little heavy on the wrists for longer stuff.

Here is a picture of the prototypes I'm having made. The left bar is the stock crossroads, the right the ones I'm having custom made. Same basic geometry, but 0 degree down angle instead of the stock 7 degrees. They're gonna be just the ticket for anyone over 5'8" or so. I think less tall people would probably like the down angle ones better, taller folks the new flatter ones. The new ones are also 1/2" shorter in these pictures, but I'm going to see if I can get them a little shorter yet, maybe another 1/4". Overall rise at the end of the bar is around an inch, but if you've played with ergos on motorcycles, you know that little changes can make big differences. I'm thinking they'll be for sale in another 3 weeks or so. I'll be selling both the full sets and the individual bars.

Al -- put me on your contact list as soon as they're available. It's the one thing I don't like about the CR bars that I got from you...

Thanks for the link on the Crossroads, on the 43mm how tall is the area that grips the fork leg?

Black_sunshine,

Where did you get those bars? What is the part number?

Thanks,
Keith

Are those clip-ons on Trojan's bike for sure the Crossroads bars that Wycked linked to? If so as someone else said, do you have to raise the forks for them to work? I'm still toying around with a different bar setup.

Along the lines of this thread, I actually find the distance riding on my R to be easier than the shorter more aggressive stuff, mostly cause there's just enough wind blast and forward lean to take the weight off at about 70 but not make me hang on.

The bars are from Crossroads but they are not the XB bars that they sell. They are the 54mm clip ons. They fit without raising the forks as the clamp is only around 10mm thick.
I'll post a 'finished' pic this afternoon that looks a lot better.

Thanks Trojan, that's exactly what I was wondering. Looking forward to the finished pic, and you opinion of the new set up.

Here are the pics of the finished bars. I am very happy with the position and fit, although there was a lot of fiddling around to amke them sit right. The forks are at the standard height although I will probably drop them 5mm to quicken the steering.
I had to space the whole screen, headlight assembly out by 1" and fit longer bolts in order to clear the bars. I swapped the clutch cable for an XB9R item for a better route. The bars sit around 1" lower than the Xroads XB bars and are at a much better angle than the stock XBR bars. I have Gilles rearsets fitted and the bar/peg position is about right. The only disadvantage is that the steering lock is now unusable, but I'll just carry a big padlaock!

Nice clean install.
Looks like this may be what I do.
Was the pushing out with the longer bolts (for the headlamp assembly) just as easy as that?
Thanks for doing it first!
Love the flyscreen as well.
Good job.

The spacing out was dead easy. I made some 1" spacers from aluminium tubing and replaced all 4 mounting bolts with 1" longer. The sm all clamp at the bottom of the headlights needs to be remade, but as it is just a flat piece it's straightforward.
