I open my E-mail and more news and speculation for the new HD or Buell engine. (maybe both) Anyway, sounds like a good commercial coming up in the future. Maybe they are aiming for the military market. HD sells they're bikes through the AAFES PX overseas. Maybe somebody cut a deal with Buell to do the same.

If I was a advertising consultant I'd try to make a correlation between the torque of the Buell to what the torque is of a F-14 Tomcat or F/A-18 Hornet. Maybe they drag race each other down the catapult. I wonder who would win the plane or the Buell. Hmmmmmm??? Camera tricks would have the Buell win of course.

Please notice the word "maybe" That's just my thought not what really happens. Maybe it could happen.

You are about to start ME on my Horsepower vs. Torque rant (first appeared at Latus Motors in 1995). I am much less fun than Aaron and Co. on this subject...hehehehe.

I was at the filming of the Buell commercial on the USS Hornet today. If you want to see the pictures they are posted over on http://www.sacborg.com

No 2002 motors shown if that is what you are looking for. But it will be a Rockin' Smokin' Buelligan commercial.

Ok, security cant be THAT good. SOMEONE has to have seen, heard, or otherwise been NEAR one of the new bikes. C'man, fill us in. Someone KNOWS someone that has a 3rd cousin on their mothers side that at one time worked at a cycle mag but still keeps in touch via carrier pigeon with his old buddies in the mail room of the publishing company that has seen 4th hand reports of the actuall rumours that have been circulating around the office as to what the freaking thing IS !!

OR, someone already HAS one and someone else has already snuck a picture or twelve of it, and they could just leave that picture laying around on a kitchen table somewhere and a sudden gust of wind blows it out a window and it HAPPENS to land near where someones friend happened to have parked their 63 Rambler and this friend picks up the picture and weeks later turns it over to someone HERE cuz he knows that his buddy is a motorcycle FREAK and might like a crumpled up old picture of a bitchin motorcycle.....

It could happen.

C'man, throw us a freaking bone here. Mid-July? Why the big Scooby Secret? What if it aint Mid-July? What if its *gasp* longer than that? I dont think I can take it any longer. I might just pee myself. Or go buy an Aprilia.

HD sent this to me this morning-

Dear Jim,

Mark your calendar! July 13. Be among the first to see the new 2002 Harley-Davidson® motorcycle line-up and a whole lot more. You won't want to miss it!

New harley-davidson.com Web site --
Check out the fresh, new roads and experiences awaiting you today on the redesigned Harley-Davidson Web site, http://www.harley-davidson.com.

When you visit the H-D Web site, you'll see that we've made it easier than ever to navigate and find the information you want. And by integrating many of our online experiences into one site, getting to all your favorite destinations is simple and quick.

Plus, we've updated and added new information on everything from motorcycles to maintenance, career opportunities to demo rides. Riders who are just beginning their Harley-Davidson journey will appreciate the Knowledge Is Power section, which is packed with practical information about the H-D experience. Packed with the kind of info you've asked for that's easy to use, http://www.harley-davidson.com has something for every Harley-Davidson enthusiast.

We've even loaded it with new features. An all-new registration page helps us customize your online experience, and finding a H-D dealer has never been easier thanks to our dealer locator that features maps and driving directions. Looking to experience a Harley-Davidson event? The Event Calendar has all the information you need. The Rentals section shows how easy it is to rent a recent model Harley-Davidson, whether it's for a weeklong trip or a one-day test-ride.

The road begins at http://www.harley-davidson.com. Check it out for a new H-D experience, and be sure to visit us again on July 13 to see what's new for 2002.

-----------

Now if HD is launching new models on July 13th, will Buell be doing the same?

The same people doing HD's website are doing Buells, so that would make sense. Then again nothing makes sense anymore.

There is a dealer meeting in Mid July at which my Buell dealer contacts are anticipating a new Buell. They are hearing the same scattered and contradictary rumours we have spread amongst ourselves. They claim to know nothing official. Court knows but won't say, so who can find his office and tie him up? No wait, he likes that stuff.

Cruiser Magazine has reported that HD is coming with the H20 engine that was accurately described in the German spy photos (you know the ugly black bike), but that the bike pictured is NOT the bike the engine will show up in.

I have no clue what Buell is doing, but why don't you guys near LA camp out near Motorcyclist's garage? Speaking of which, John Burns has a reply to the boycott called for over on the ATC site. Check the letters section. I agree with him, FWIW.

July 13th is a Friday, hmmm interesting day to choose. It is also a day that a bunch of Buell rider/owners will be gathered in Colorado at a high elevation. I wonder if we could find a cooperative local dealership around there to accomodate a bunch of tired altitude-sick riders who want to gate-crash the information release party.

Tripper, I didn't know there was a "letters" section on the ATC site. Uh, wait, you meant the letter section of the crusier magazine, didn't you.

Welcome Court.

Mikej: I meant the letters section of the latest Motorcyclist Mag, it arrived at my house Saturday. My mind was wondering.

Check the latest THUNDER PRESS, and the last page of Motorcycle Consumer News which has the following for next months' issue:

BIG NEWS FROM HARLEY-DAVIDSON

BIG NEWS FROM BUELL

It better be ready to go in July, or Buell is in a world of trouble. The word "VAPORWARE" comes to mind.

Nice to see H-D's new web site...but when is Buell getting an updated site. Their site blows!!! The Buell-UK site is so much better. The US site should be the best in the world, but unfortunately we are second best.

Check it out: http://www.buell.co.uk

Better have a new Buell in July!

Launch when READY.

What does it mean to you?

I can tell you what it does NOT mean.
It does NOT mean launch when the calendar reads a specific date.
It does NOT mean launch when some poster on a web site wants it launched.

The XXXX is a launch when READY vehicle.

Launch when READY.

And not until it is 100% READY.
