My 2008 XB12Ss was stumbling at ~4000 rpm, more throttle would just bog it down and it wouldn't rev. Did multiple TPS resets - no change.

The oil was filling up with fuel so I though it was leaky injectors. So, I replaced the following:
1. Spark plugs - no change
2. Both injectors - no change
3. Crank position sensor - no change
4. IAC - problem gone runs better that it has in years

So, this was my experience. Don't know if you have similar problems but for me just cleaning the IAC did nothing. I tested it by disconnecting the connector to the IAC and it ran better but still had some issues. Replaced the IAC, problem solved. Good luck on solving it!

Just on another Note... This IAC Guess its Idle Air Control...Thought that was more or less for idle or there abouts, Guess if bad it effects the whole rpm range or just around the 4000 or so...Hmmmm

The intake air sensor cross references to a ford part number...http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/General-Moto rcycle-Chat/Parts-cross-reference-thread

I believe the IAT is a ford f150...like 96ish...check that thread out lots of great info

The IAC caused it to run rich and then wash down the cylinder walls and get fuel into the oil. There was one other person that posted the same problem with fuel getting into the oil.

The only place I found for the IAC is at HD for about $150. MSRP is about $180.

Part no.: P0282.5AA

Yep it functions across the entire range, not just idle. The valve opens and closes to maintain idle, but while you are at speed it opens to allow more air in, and when you are decelerating it controls your engine braking.

Your bike is idling fine? I find it unusual that it would idle fine but have issues while cruising, but I can see it being possible. If the valve is not working right and not letting enough air in at partial throttle opening, the ECM thinks it is getting more air than it really is, resulting in an incorrect mixture.

I wish I knew a cross reference for that, I'm sure there is an automotive version that would work.

Thanks Froggy, IT may be the problem...Still trying to cover all bases...

Wish me luck!

OH..the bike seems to idle fine, although the odd time idle is a little up and down a tad....
