I would like a good after market seat for my XB9. The seat needs to be softer than stock seat and allow me to move further back than the stock one.Have any of you had a custom seat made for your xb9? Do any of you have a Corbin Seat? What do you think of it? NCRR | ||

Check again Ned, I think they just dropped the price recently. I was talking with a local dealer and when he quote me the price i was in shock, but then he told me he had just recieved an updated price list. At almost 400 for the seat i was unsure about it, but for 220 i definatly see a new seat in the my future. | ||

At $219 the Corbin would be worth a try. Yes, the Buell seats are very affordable and are a good alternative for the money. I have both the Street Fighter and City Cross seats and each are a great improvement from the standard. The City Cross seat offers lots of room to move around, maybe a little too tall for some though, but gives the bike a very different feel. If you're a little short in the inseam I'd buy the Corbin for $219, sounds like a bargain. | ||

Thanks Mikel. I updated all the Corbin prices on our website on Friday to the new $219 price. At $219, I wouldn't think twice about putting that seat on an XB-S, it is a very nice improvement. For wheelies, the corbin can't be beat. But it's a definite improvement for general purpose riding as well. Concerning fit: I am not at all impressed with the fit of the stock seat pan on the XB-S. The seat rattles around quite a bit. The Corbin seat does take a little bit of playing with to get the seat perfect. I cut down a few of the riveted on bumpers, and had to put a washer under each side of the hold down latch. However, once done (and it only took 1/2 hour), the Corbin fits PERFECTLY. No gaps, no looseness. Very nice. I slide it on, I bop the back of the seat with my fist, and it is engaged. I recently had Corbin send me swatches of all of their vinyls and leathers...ya know, I'd originally thought that the Faux animal textures were kinda hokey. While I'm still not crazy about the Faux Ostrich, the Faux Snake is pretty darned cool and very well done. For the right bike, it would look very trick. I've got the "Carbon Fiber" texture on the shop XB-S, and it is definitely the best for that bike given the full CF treatment the rest of the bike has. But I'd use it even if the bike didn't have the full CF treatment. It has my vote as the nicest general purpose seat area texture. Grippy enough to keep from sliding around and getting the 60MH hard brake wedgie, but smooth enough to move your butt around when cornering aggressively. It's hard to believe they get genuine leather to look like that so perfectly. Good news for you Firebolt owners. I connected Corbin with Hollywood at Vallejo Buell, who agreed to lend a Firebolt to Corbin for a few weeks so that they could get the Firebolt seat design completed. My wifes SV650 has a Corbin, and the SV650 stock seat is very similar in shape to a firebolt seat. So I've got a good idea what the Corbin Firebolt seat will be like, and I'd bet it will be an improvement. It will be interesting to see how they solve the attachment, as I've never been crazy about how the Firebolt works that. Al | ||

The Corbin is a great seat. As someone who paid $375 for one, I am more than a bit pissed at this price cut. But it is a great seat that looks great too! I did have to send it back once to get it to fit right though. Good luck! | ||

If Corbin takes information from you as to your weight and riding style then they ought to be able to build you a perfect seat. On my Blast I sat higher on the Corbin than the stock saddle because it didn't compress hardly at all. Like a rock... That was the reason I sold it and the new owner loved the Corbin: he was 40 pounds heavier than me. For $219, it's a great deal. However, it would be great to see a comparison between the Streetfighter, XB9Sx, Corbin, and stock saddle. | ||

I have both the CORBIN seat and the BUELL "streetfighter" seat, and prefer the BUELL "SF" seat, it seems to fit my anatomy better Of Course, others may disagree ......... LAZYRACER | ||

I would like to thank everyone for sharing their thoughts with me regarding the seat for my xb9.I will purchase either the corbin or the Buell street fighter. The price on both seats are great,although of course the Buell is the least expensive of the two. I am leaning towards the corbin because I can pick the texture of leather.I might add white trim or a white racing stripe. My bike is Black and I would like to add more contrast. | ||

so with shipping to alaska i paid around $440 for my corbin gunfighter. am i pissed because now someone else can buy one for half that? no i am not pissed, because i have 9000 miles of fun on mine. no big deal, it was worth the original price i paid, and now it is darn sure worth what you have to pay. no big deal, nothin to cry about. |
