is it normal when you crash and the oil pressure indicator is on and never shuts off after you start the engine? if it is then when will it shut off

LOL...it's NEVER normal for an idiot light to be on.

Can you describe the crash? It may be something as simple as you having burped a bunch of oil out of the reservoir and it needs to be refilled.

Check the oil pressure switch sender connection, on my Cyclone it is by the oil filter and is just a snap on connection (like a little spark plug boot). If it comes off, the light comes on.

well i went down pretty hard slid through the asphalt and into a ditch the front fairing mount the one that holds the right part of the wind shield is broken and my shifter is also broken along with the left turn signal and it also bent the left handle bar and some scratches here and there but atleast the frame did not get any dent or scratches that's the good news and oh I am still alive and walking and I have a couple of road rash but other than that it's all good hopefully and I know I will feel this the next day. does anyone know how much is that mount that holds the front fairing and the speedo and also the front fairing?

The fairing is $225 or something? The mount is only like $140. I had to replace it once before.

what about the oil pressure indicator light, do you think I should empty the oil on the bike and refill it back up? Would that do the trick?

Worth a shot. Cheap and easy. First check the wire itself, though. Those dummy lights are just a single wire and it's possible that it came off/got crushed in the crash.

that would be a possibility and the bike starts fine and all it's just that the oil pressure light doesn't shuts off.... Is there anyway you can check where it is coming from without the use of the diagnostic computer?

Where what is coming from? The oil pressure light doesn't measure pressure at different points in the system. Either it senses pressure or not. The wiring should be right near the oil filter.

Seriously - do NOT run it until you track this down. If it does not have enough oil, or it is somehow obstructed, you run the risk of doing a lot of damage to your motor.

Check the wiring, check the lines. If there's no apparent damage, try draining the oil and refilling it. All done with less than $20 and an hour, tops.

This can be a really tricky problem. One thing I am sure of is my XB9R will reach oil pressure in about 5 second after an oil and filter change. One thing that needs to be done on some GSXR is to prime the oil pump. This is done by slowly turning the crankshaft over with the spark plugs out (not necessary but makes it so much easier) about 10-20 times. This may work for Buells not sure, never had to do it. I work on a friends ZX636R that takes about 2 min to get pressure after an oil + filter change and Kawasaki claims this to be OK. He had a lowside the other night and broke the stator cover and it is doing the same thing as your bike. So far we've done the oil pump prime trick, swapped out the oil twice, checked the sensor voltage, and changed the filter. Tonight when I get home I'll take the sump off to have a look at the screen and pickup.

If I were you I would take a look at the fliter area and in particular the check ball and sensor.

too late for that I had to run the bike to my cousin's house and all I can hear really loud is the valve it made that loud ticking sound. I just hope that I didn't do any damage to it.

Yes, the loud ticking is usually a good sign that there is no oil in your lifters to take up the valve slack. The Kwaka makes a bit of a racket with no oil as well which is a cause for concern and the reason I'm certain it isn't a faulty connection in the harness. Best you stop riding it and start diagnosing bit that ARE working properly in the lube system. BTW the more you run it the more the metal - metal is wearing away. Seizing an engine is very costly.

so how can you fix this problem is it because the oil pump is broken or is it one of the oil like got disconnected?

Dunno for sure about the XB's, but on the tube framers it is REALLY easy to drop the oil pump and inspect both it (it comes completely out) and the gear it engages (look up into the engine).

You should be able to do a decent diagnosis on the oil lines at that point as well, they are not that complicated.

I would not tackle it without a manual, and you will need an oil pump gasket to button it back up ($1), some teflon plumbers tape, and a few cable ties.

Here is a possibility. I fixed the Kwaka by tipping it on it's side till the clip-on was nearly resting on the ground on the side the oil pump was on. This works on bikes with side mounted oil pumps . Someone else will have to vouch for the location of the pump on the XB cause never been there.

can someone tell us where is the location of the oil pump...... the bike was laid on the left and then to the right when it fell from the ditch.

K, In your profile pic, you have a Jardine mounted. If so you'll have to get the replacement mounts from them...everything else Dave would be happy to help you with I'm sure.

Since you have a Jardine, inspection of the oil lines is a snap. Look directly above the muffler and see if any of the metal lines under there are pinched or bent. If so, that's prolly your problem.

If you've put the stock pipe back on, disregard this post.

my jardine mount is good I just didn't have any chance to check my bike yet so I am going to have to check it sometime this month I am in no hurry to fix it yet but I will check everything when I get a chance to do it.

I started the bike again today and the pressure light is off now and it's seems like it's the engine is running the way it should be now the fun part replacing the broken parts so daves if you are reading this then you will be getting a call pretty soon.
