Just performed the annual brake fluid flush on my 2004 XB12R and noticed that now the brake light does not come on with the rear brake pedal depressed. Coincidence? Switch failure perhaps?
Light works from front brake lever.

Probably a bad switch. Simple enough to replace

I assume you guys are going to use an ohmmeter to see if the switch, wiring, or bulb is the problem.

I was planning on looking at it for a few hours.. pressing it a few times.. then ride and worry about it later

If the front brake switch still lights the light then I would say your issue is the switch for the rear brake lever. Simple and quick replacement is all that is needed. If the front also doesn't work, then you would need to start digging.

Air bubble near the switch itself. Re-bleed the system.

I had to replace mine. It was physically damaged / worn, as it is located near the footpeg and prone to damage when your boot rubs against it.

Yep, that's what happened to mine to my foot kept nudging the connector..
perhaps exposing the connection from its rubber shroud.. didn't ride it today, just looked at it

shame that the switch does not sit further in behind the kick plate...
