Well, I know Opto... But who else is out there from Australia??

Are you guys having as much trouble as I am getting aftermarket goodies here?? I'm getting to the stage where I am considering having stuff built myself.

Anyhow, Blake, I'm not trying to drum up business, just trying to get a feel for who wants aftermarket stuff... If there's a market I might be able to convince the missus to let me start getting stuff built.

I have some ideas, an aftermarket muffler for a start, I'm sure i can have one built locally cheaper than the ones we have to pay import duties on.

I don't now what else, but was wondering about an aftermarket subframe and tail section conversion for the S's...

I have motor trimmers in my family, so i was thinking tank bags, seat bags...

Fibre glass body panels...

These ideas all stem from things I want but can't seem to get at reasonable prices... I'm not thinking cheap products, but good value... I've got a muffler to sort out and I'll spend some dyno time on that one...

I'm not looking for a full time job, I have a career, but I have some spare time and a few skills and connections, so I figure why not share a little.

Anyhow, point is, if there is enough interest, I'll make stuff available to buy. Perhaps start off "on order" until I get a feel for it.

If it goes that far and the feedback on the products is good enough, I might even let you guys state side buy some ; )

Well I am just up the road a bit from Opto.
Lemon Chili is a bit further up the same road.

I know what you mean, my beast is fairly stock beacause I am too attached to my inner organs to sell them to raise money for parts.
The exchange rate is just not favourable for us.

Oh well at least i gotta stock buell.

There are a bunch of guys here that may be interested, largely Sydneyites with a few Melbournians thrown in.

There are a good number of OzziBuellics.

I met my first couple, oddly enough, in East Troy, WI lost and wandering in search of Mecca.

Since then, Aussies have played a key role in the development of Buell. There are several of the "regulars" here well....regularly and Paul will be here soon for a month of riding.

If you get, need or want a reason to come to the US, let us know.

By the way...you do know that Buell did one of it's coolest ever press intros in Australian at Eastern Creek and produced what are arguably the coolest Buell shirts, posters, etc from it!

Ride safe and Ahoy Matey!

Hey folks : )

Trenchtractor - I know what you mean. I've been looking into making a few parts myself, such as belt guards from aluminium, but I've also done ok getting used bits from ebay (thanks guys!). The exchange rate is slowly getting better...
I would be interested in body panels and a decent seat bag that fits the X1, if that helps.
And your XB12S/R looks hot : )

Glitch - sorry, Appalachia doesn't count unless you can tell me which is the odd one out:
a)VB
b)XXXX
c)Coopers
d)Vegimite

Court - Eastern creek was the launch for the XB9R??? I didn't know about the shirts and posters though, and I guess you can't get them anymore...
YES - I need a reason to come to the US again! Finding the cash for a trip is another thing though : (

If any of you come to Bris-Vegas, email me and we'll meet up, hopefully go for a ride, I'd be happy to show you round. Email is in my profile.

Downundabueller, see you tomorrow morning!
cheers,
lemonchili

Thanks guys...

Pilot, you still in Ayr?? Let me know when you're in town... All Buell weekend next weekend, some big wigs comming up from Sydney, evidently... Might be worth the trip into town??

Hey, I'll be in Brisvagas over xmas... I am going to bring the trailer, and you all know there is no point on towing an empty trailer...

It's been a long time since my last Glorious ride (back when I had a GPX250!!), I can't resist the temptation of a good ride, Townsville has no hills, really...

Oh, my mother lives just near the base of Mt Mee...

Mark, I'll be posting a copy of my initial post of the BuellinOz forum... Shortly...

Went for a ride organised by the local dealer, Morgan & Wacker, this morning. Had a great time, amazing to see 23 Buells in one spot! There's another ride organised for October.
Here's a couple of pics, more at:

I'm here in Sydney Aust. I too was after a muffler but have been forced to go the race kit option due to postage difficulties. I tried to get Staintune interested 6 months ago but the needed about 10 firm orders.

That's easy XXXX is odd one out the rest you can eat or drink.

The concept of aftermarket parts in Oz needs to be put into context.ie: how many XB or Tube frame bikes in Australia on the road.

I would be suprised if ther are are more than 150 xb's both 9 and 12 registrered and as for the tubers in 1999 it was aprox 200 and I would be suprised if that figure is more than 300 now.

Would be nice to have some accurate import figures for Australia. If you look at lists of the top 100 bikes sold in Oz over that past few years published in the Mag's, I dont remember seeing Buell there.

"Went for a ride organised by the local dealer, Morgan & Wacker, this morning. Had a great time, amazing to see 23 Buells in one spot! "

Dejavu in 1999 Ross and myself joined (from memory) 30 odd buells at Morgan and Wacker with Erik as well. For a two day ride and track event.
There needs to be more of this with advanced publicity. The 99 event atracted about a 3 rd of its riders from FNQ,Tas,Vic SA and NSW.

Heh heh heh.
Go paul, yep can't stomach the fourex myself even after living here for several years. Still enjoy a VB or Coopers though, originally a melbourne lad.
Wow those low figures surprise me. So I will continue to get out there and spread the disease letting all know what a great machine it is.

I go to a lot of events that might have three hundred odd bikes there, always the only buell.

Am taking five days off work in September and setting up my tent at Bikeweek on the Gold Coast Wackers is one of the major sponsors and there are daily rides going all over the place. I will be on all of them.

The Sunday ride was great, the boys from Wackers are keen to organise track days........suspension set up, braking and cornering etc. The suggested venue is Norwell a short tight and twisty track.

Its nice after buying the Buell in November last year and never seeing another, to meet and ride with others that understand...... the 'why a buell' question.

I actually rode 1,000 odd kilometres to Sydney last December to meet and ride with a couple of Buellers. And caught up with them again early this month. Well worth the trip.

Its all starting to happen here now, and to say i am excited doesn't truly explain how I feel.

BTW- for those curious about bikeweek

Hey there...

I'm Norwegian, but live in Newcastle, NSW. Reckon that'll make me enough Ozzie to post on this thread.

I'm equally frustrated by the lack of aftermarket Buell parts. Lots of companies that make carbon fibre parts, but none of them seem to make Buell parts.

And don't get me started on the muffler deal...

I have always found the guys at Wackers very good, the track at norwell is a great short tight track, a real hoot on a Buell thats where we went in 1999. Only problem was the rain, have a picture somwher of Erik and me standing next to the then just released X1 with water half way up the wheel to the hub, can you say flash flood through the Buell display tent. I think Erik is a rain good every time I meet him it rains.

Joe_Cuell, There's a few Buells hiding in Bris but they came out for the photo above : )

Check out http://au.msnusers.com/BuellinOz

and/or email me lemonchili@hotmail.com
Downundabueller and I are always keen for a ride : ) though I'm going to be really busy in the next few weeks and not much riding : (

You could also ring Morgan & Wackers, talk to Lee and ask him about the Buell rides and ask him to put you on their mailing list.

Selling parts on the side looks like it's a bit of a risk right now... But I still wanna nice new shiny pollished stainless steel muffler.

Here's what I propose:

1. Anyone interested, email me.

2. I have a few prototypes built.

3. I do dyno testing to find the best one.

4. I email the results, pic's and estimated cost (sub $600) out to all those who contact me via email.

5. I have a run of mufflers built, however many are ordered. Final cost is cost to me of said number of mufflers devided by number of people buying them. That way we SHARE the cost of dyno time and wasted mufflers.

6. Buyers order the muffler through the guy who is building them for me (that way you are dealing with a reputable business and know I'm not running off with your cash).

So, tell your friends... The more we have built the cheaper they are (per muffler). Emailing me is not an order, just a show of interest. Actuall ordering will only be to the business building the mufflers...
