Don't let the old guys round here scare you off.

They are actually part of what makes these motorcycles worth the investment. The community that surrounds Buell motorcycles is amazing. In addition to opportunities to meet and ride with the man behind the name at BRAG events; some of the individuals who have been around since the early days of the company frequent this site and always having interesting tales to share. This community is open to any gender, age, race or religion.

Buell and the BadWeB collection of knowledge and experiences have helped me learn more about motorcycles in a year than I could have hoped to learn in a lifetime on my own.

So if you buy a Buell...in addition to having an innovative machine engineered for ripping through mountain curves and roaring through city streets you become part of a family.

Well, if that is what he chooses, hopefully he hasn't bought one already. Take a look at this 05 GSXR1000 - gotta say it looks mighty nice. Integrated turn signals in mirrors and tail stock, very nice & tight look.

Well, he hasn't posted since August 29. My guess is Obi went and bought his R-1 or Gixxer and is currently posting on their sites how crazy us white-underpowered-motorcycle-riding-over-the-hill-old farts are all nuts.

Damn....he's right!

I think the XB`s are way better looking than that thing. But the GSXR`s are certainly fast!

Well said Tucson!

Perhaps if he lives long enough, he will see the light. In the interim, I wish him all the best.

I still don't mind the "Old" reference as I learned a lot from my motorcycling mentors through the years. Most of them are gone now and I still have the memories.

I just don't get the "White" thing. That went out a long time ago. Well, perhaps not where he lives. I hope that improves long before he gets old. Life is too short to live with a major chip on your shoulder.

I just spent a day at the "National Round Up" and had a great time. All kinds of bikes, riders and people of all ages and backgrounds. It doesn't get much better than that.

If you read my original post I never said the word "old". Middle aged is as politically correct as it gets. Don’t understand what the fuss is all about. All I did was make an observation and said nothing derogatory. From the responses it seems I was right, most of you are middle aged white guys. I don’t think the XB is slam dunk and would want to look at other options, get over it

I never said it did. ALL I DID WAS MAKE AN OBSERVATION. Like walking into an NBA locker room and saying "seems most of the people here are tall black men". That is not derogatory

don't let some of these guys passion scare you away
you may not have posted your question in the best possible way..but life is to short

Fact: More "mature" riders are less concerned with top MPH, that may be why the buells are more appealing to us then some other bikes

click on this link, then click FAQ 1.

So what direction are you considering for your next bike or did you already get one?

Obi, I am over it. I never took offense to the white ( I'm not ) middle aged ( I am...I guess ) remarks. I think the majority of people here took offense to your tone and demeanor.

I think they are over priced, for the same amount of money I could get a Jap liter bike (don’t care what you guys say they are just built better) with more horsepower and better performance. Don’t get me wrong I love Buells, but for the money I might as well get better machine.

Better for what use? Track days...drag races...stat sheets??? You come to a Buell sight and say that all of our bikes are inferior, overpriced, pieces of junk.

The only reason I could see getting a Buell at that price is to stand out from the rest of the crowd and that not a good enough reason to make me shell out $11,000.

Then go get YOUR bike, whatever it is. If what Buell has to offer doesn't appeal to you, go get something else. Quite frankly that reasoning can got to any of the "other" brand bikes. Why spend $11,000 on a Ducati Monster that would get whupped by a liter bike? Because the people that ride a Ducati are interested in riding what pleases THEM.

Is just me or are 80% of the people in this forum middle aged and white? I can see why a buell appeals to them but what about the younger riders (I'm 25 and not white), what makes you love the XB.

The infamous white guy line. You may say it was just an observation, but again it's in how it's presented that could've been misunderstood by the people here.

I'm not here to try and change your mind because I'm pretty sure it's been made up. I just think you've come here to validate your decision. I truly do hope you get what you want and enjoy it.

Simply put, if ones decision to buy a Buell requires any amount of debate, whether it be personal or public, you don't really want one.

You either need one, or you do not.

Er, it's a Buell thing. You wouldn't understand...

Well fellas I'm getting the Firebolt 12r once the 2005s get to the showrooms and I can test drive one. I always wanted the 12r but was not sure about the price. I think my somewhat limited knowledge of motorcycles did not allow me see the difference between track bikes and street bikes and I know I want a street bike. Like many of you have said, no one hits top speed on either bikes for more than a couple of seconds and since I dont intend to race my bike or run from cops I know the buell is me. Thanks I'm out
I'll post some pics once I bring her home

Well I have to admit, I had you pegged wrong Obi.

I thought you were more concerned about being one of the boyz than buying a bike for your own riding enjoyment.

BTW, when I'm on my Buell I feel like I'm 18 again. : )

Obi...Your logic is flawless. In fact, you demonstrate wisdom well beyond your (assumed) years. Hope you enjoy your test ride and decide to get a Buell.

In my opinion, the Buell's with their strong low and mid range torque, high end HP and excellent handling are bikes that provide all the fun you can stand. Not to mention they are easy to work on, have a tremendous aftermarket and are different (at least from an InLine 4) in every sense.

You will be able to master the bike easily and have a an existing group of dedicated riders and technical types to glean info from and ride with.

All in all, a pretty good situation and not likely one you will find anywhere else.

Enjoy

Obi, before you get a 2005 keep in mind that, at least here in Florida (home of the hurricanes) brand new 2004 12R's are priced at $8488. If $11K makes you pause, maybe you should check out '04 prices in your region.
