Does it work to ceramic coat a muffler? I mean they bake that stuff on so i'm what that would do to the insides of a Buell race muffler. Will the muffler perform any different after a ceramic coating? | ||

mitch I have been looking into that myself... I have not heard of any bad from it (yet). Just the big decrease in heat which I know and have heard is a good thing. Plus the coating looks pretty cool IMO. | ||

Wow I never saw that before. Feeling a little dumb now. Thanks though. If you paint some heat resistant paint over the ceramic coating will it stay? I want my race muffler to be black like the stock muffler. | ||

I painted a pot belly stove, black paint over my ceramic coated race kit muffler. To maintain a stock look. Stays on well. Very Very cheap compared to 'exhaust' paints can handle extreme high temperatures. | ||

I had Jet-Hot coat mine, they do stuff for the military. Bike runs way cooler, doesn't "pop" as much and fan hardly comes on. Great price and they coat inside and out. Turn around is about 7 to 10 days from the time you send them to the time you put them back on. Black or sterling silver. Anyways, might be worth a look. | ||

ok... I should not drink and post. I meant or was talking about the headers. aztec, thats who I was looking at. But thats a week at least without my bike (hawaii) shipping takes longer. $150 For headers and exhaust inside-n-out. I'm not sure what the shipping would be from Hawaii. If you can figure out a way to go without your bike for 10 days you'll be glad you did. The bike just runs better ... not to mention increased service life of the bike by running around soooo much cooler. Getting the rear header off without dropping the engine is a little tricky (at first) but "doable" I did it and I'd call it easy now. The military and NASA use this stuff inside their jet exhausts for a good reason. The exhaust gas moves a lot more quickly as well. | ||

thanks for the info... sounds like a great time to do headers and send my muffler in to get "DRUMMERIZED" Now all I have to do is take my truck back from my wife. | ||

Mitch, I had my race can ceramic coated black. Big improvement in the looks department, if a tad expensive. Better than paint, though. YMMV | ||

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I am addicted to this site. I was wondering about wrapping the header on my firebolt with header wrap that is sold at auto performance stores. I plan to go with the jet hot or ceramic later, but was looking for a faster/cheaper fix until winter. I have seen it on some of the tube frames but not on any xb's. Has anyone tried and do you think there would be any problems dissipating the heat down to the muffler? Also,I am probably going to swap the muffler out soon. thanks, Tripp |
