Hi, I have a 2007 Xb12SCG I just acquired, and I have a wire that I am dumbfounded by.

It is a black wire with red connector.
It has a built in fuse.
It goes to the positive battery terminal.
It looks important.
What does it do?

Reason?

Mine isn't hooked up (broken connector).
Thanks!!!!

battery tender. if you'd traced the wire a few inches further, you'd have discovered a 2-lead plug probably sticking out the passenger peg bracket.

you can replace the end with a crimp on from an auto parts store, that is if you use it.
the tender helps to maintain the battery when the bike is not ridden for extended periods of time but can mask VR issues if you are charging every day.
the battery tender cannot prevent the cold from killing your AGM lead acid battery, so it's best to pull the battery indoors for the winter, ... although i doubt it gets too chilly in sunny SD

welcome!
