Okay guys well I'm new to XBs (used to tuber's), anyways I just got an 03 XB9 with 33k miles and I have noticed when letting off the throttle and slowing down (when I'm not on the powerband) I get a fair amount of vibes from the motor. Now my tuber vibrates like a SOB and I know that's normal but since the XBs are more refined I wanted to make sure it was normal and not something I need to look into. (Front isolator looks good to me, doesn't vibe much at idle or under acceleration)

Thanks,
Spencer

Vibes when slowing is a symptom of the front isolator going bad. Take a good look at it. IIRC, putting a jack under the engine and lifting a bit will show movement in a bad isolator. I think the vibes were worst on mine coming down through about 3,000 RPM. Hope this helps.

It's NOT normal on my XB12.

EDIT: Checking my records, my front isolator went bad at the 34K mark.

Thanks Sifo, the front isolator appears good going by pictures I found online but I know that appearance are deceiving when it comes to isolators.

So I should put a jack under the motor and lift up and see if there is any movement at the front isolator?

That's how I checked mine. The rubber isolator was just sliding on the inside bushing. It would be helpful if someone familiar with this failure could ride the bike. It causes a very pronounced vibration, ONLY on deceleration and ONLY at fairly low RPMs.

Well I only have vibrations on deceleration and fairly low RPMs, however my isolator appears fine and is elevated in the middle of the bolt like it should be.

I will put a jack under it and lift up and see if anything moves around the isolator
