Has anyone experienced a check engine light coming on during highway speed (4,000 to 5,000 rpm). This has happened to me twice in the past month. I haven’t had the time to bring it to the dealer yet. Does anyone also know if the ECM stores fault codes? this happened once before the installation of the F.A.S.T. kit so sensor placement is not an issue |

dues it tick over ( running at one cylinder )as the engine light burns ?? if so it's the over heating protection it starts with the light and after a short while it will cut a spark from one cylinder... and if so check the acc. ( fan ) fuse, if blown check the wires from the fan.. they tend to run against the cylinderhead cosing a short... regards, Bud and yes the ecm stores some fault codes, not all but the most importend one's |

Mine comes on due to the techlusion box on my bike. The ECM does store codes. The ecm deletes stored codes after so many start cycles. Its in the manual, I just don't remember how many start cycles it takes. |

Fed...when it happened on my '03 9S at 10,000km, same thing. Light would come on, then flash 4 times. I pulled over, stopped the bike, and re-started it. Went another few kilometers, did the same thing again (although I think the flash sequence was different...happened last year...can't remember). Anyways, about 150 km later, the needles starting swinging back and forth, and then the bike just stopped!?!? Had to have it towed back to Edmonton! Turned out the Voltage Regulator crapped out, frying the battery and most of the light bulbs! Fixed under warranty. Don't mean to freak you out, but get those engine codes checked out asap. |

It takes 50 start cycles to clear the check engine light once the problem is solved (or a Digital Technician at the dealership) You can rig a jump wire between post 1 and 2 on the data link (under the left side of the fairing on R's, S's I don't know). This will use the engine light to blink the trouble code(s). |

I had the same problem. First I was having it start missing as well as the light. The dealer found my rear plug wire had chaffed through. While riding the bike home it basically did what you described as well as stalling from a dead stop. I took it back and dropped it off and I believe it was either the temp sensor for the fan or the wiring to the sensor. I think the sensor though. I have a 9s with factory race kit. I would mainly notice the missing in damp weather because the chaffed plug wire would arc in this type of weather. I would look at the wires going to the sensor and the sensor itself. Plus look at your plug wires anyway to check for damage. |

I had similar fault and my o2 sensor was faulty, light only came on at 4500 to 5500 rpm in 5th gear, replaced the o2 sensor and no more fault. It did store a fault code |

Bud, if the fan fuse blows the check engine light comes on automatically and does not go out. |

Does your engine light only come on while on the highway? if so its the O2 sensor, mine came loose and then came unpluged and my engine light would come on when i was on the highway, high speed + more air flow caused a lean condition. Just something else for u to check |

Whatever they found wrong with my temp/fan circuit did not cause a fuse to blow, plus mine was intermittent. |
