i think it said like Trip F or something but i cant quite figure out what it does.

I believe the F Trip starts counting once your low fuel light comes on. It lets you know how far you've ridden with low fuel.

Schleppy is right. It's a nice feature when you don't notice the fuel light right away, it lets you know exactly how long the fuel light has been on. It resets itself to zero when you fill up again.

i appreciate it guys as i noticed it today once my fuel light came on but this was the first time ive had to put gas in the bike as this is also only the 2nd day ive owned it.
i believe the lightning has a 4.5 gal tank (2007) so i would guess the light comes on with .5gal left?

About 25 or 30 miles in my experiences until its time to start walking or pushing.

Welcome to the forum. You can find manuals. They are out there, you just have to look for them.
