Fuel pump, dash lights came on etc, then tried to crank and there was a initial sound (very short..) like the starter was trying to engage..but nothing. Now when I turn the key on..no dash lights etc. All the fuses in the box appear to be OK. Is there another fuse or something I've overlooked? thanks! |

Sounds like a dead and/or bad battery to me. |

Was able to charge the battery overnight and its showing 13V plus. Might still be the battery as the dash lights barely come when the charger is connected? thanks |

Sounds like a bad battery. Do you have one you can borrow and do a substitution? (just to see IF it was the battery) (Message edited by slaughter on August 02, 2013) |

It really does...suppose I could jump it from another batt? This battery is less than a year old with maybe 1000miles on it. |

If the battery is bad, it may be internally shorted. If that's the case, you won't be able to jump start it from another source. If it's charged to ~13V, take the battery to an auto parts store and have them do a load test on it. They can tell you if it's bad or not. If the battery's OK, checked your connections and make sure they're clean and tight. Next thing would be to check ground connections and make sure they're also clean and tight. |

On an 06/07; besides the grounds behind the forks, battery box, the screw next to that with 4 wires and the tail loop, are there any other ground points. Also does anyone know exactly what's being grounde,d at each multi wire ground? Oh yeah, and the big ass cable grounding the engine. |

In terms of "not hurting the bike", you can jump from another battery fine, but make sure you are doing so without the other vehicle running. If the other vehicle is running (i.e. a car) its charging system can murder the motorcycle voltage regulator. |
