Well went for my longest ride at one time on the Buell this weekend, went for about 440 miles give or take a few miles. Rode from Detroit to Syrcuse Indiana. To sum up the ride in a few words. Big guy(6'4'' 270lbs) + XB9R + 440 miles + 11 hours on the bike = One beat up big guy. All though fun at the end of the ride up here in michigan on saturday night when the sun went down it was 59 degrees F. And to top it off me or my buddy didnt have a clear shield on our helments so we rode 50+ miles with them up so we could see, at 55 mph that isnt fun. BUt all and all my weekend was good and fun, i look like a wreck this morning however (still sore and really tired).

How was everyone else weekend rides any interesting stories please share.

Ride safe and keep the shine side up.

Blue - get some solid (read, plastic) pale blue or yellow sunglasses to wear in the helmet. I never ride with my faceshield DOWN except over 65 mph. The glasses protect the eyes. I don't even have a tinted visor anymore for just that reason. Too many times caught out with it at night.

One Saturday Shred and I rode from Atlanta to near Asheville had lunch talked with my folks and rode home. Nice day ride, no interstates at all. Total miles was about 635 if I remember right. Longest one day ride for me.

Blue I rode from Detroit leaving at 3am saturday to Appleton Wisconsin for Daves Sportbike day (pics in said thread on quickboard) Round Trip was a total of 1063.5 miles due to a detour to avoid the 18 miles of construction on i-80/i-94.

well i had a real nice weekend following wife on her M620. we rode up to talkeetna, spent night, and returned to homer sunday. she averages around 75 to 80 mph, except while passing EVERYTHING IN SIGHT, when that little monster goes way north of 100 mph. we had a real nice 700 mile weekend, and my XB12 got 56 miles per gallon. we mostly burned 87 octane crap gas, no pinging or any issues at all. just replaced my rear Z6. managed 6400 miles on that rear, more then double the 2700 ( including a gentle break-in) miles that dusted the original D207. metzeler is good stuff. also finally pulled the original factory spark plugs this morning. they looked perfect after 9100 miles. actually looked just like the fresh ones out of the box. a bear to reach those plugs, good thing it doesnt seem to use them up.

My longest ride on the XB was just under 500 miles in one shot. My legs were cramping that last 50 for sure.

Fullpower, kudos on finding a wife who enjoys riding like she does. I'm beginning to make headway on my girl. Wish me luck!

Wycked, you were right in my neck of the woods. I am in Valparaiso, IN. You passed right by.

I gotta get together with some of yous guys.

It's hard not being able to talk to people face to face about the Buells.

My friends accept it, but I still don't think they understand.

Don't mind me, I'm weird.

Oh yeah, 80/94 SUCKS. That construction's been going on since I was 15 or 16. It will be ok for a few months and then they start more construction on it. It's a vicious, never ending cycle.

No fundage. Just got off of vacation and I'm still recouping from that. I wanted to, trust me, I did. Just didn't have the cash to make the trip.

I had a nice little ride last weekend, only about 220 miles total. But, there was this incident that reminded me why I went this direction in purchasing this particular bike. No, not the speed....the handling. My last trip on 2 wheels prior to this purchase was on a cruiser that ended up in a deer's guts. That coupled with a few of the horror stories surrounding a lot of local riders and/ or their bikes demise... led me to search for a bike I would be able to control more quickly and effectively.... to the point:

I was on a group ride, my wife on board. We just pulled out of a state park, single file and accelerating when the guy directly in front of me went down. I was fixed on the bottom of this guys bike as it slid and wormed its way along, doing everything I could to slow my bike, and avoid over-reacting.The rider slid towards the left, and I easily avoided him. As I closed in on the bike ,I was able to maneuver to the right and go by, avoiding the it and it's debris ( thrown from the hard shell saddle bags when they popped open). I'll admit, I was too close to begin with , as we ( the group ) seemed to get the accordian (sp?) deal going. Luckily the guy was all right, his bike bent up, lacking a few options, but able to ride it home. My wife complimented me after wards, and I thanked her for not freaking out and just going with me. As I reflected on this later, I remembered the one of the main reasons I looked at purchasing a Buell... I want to control as much of the ride as I possibly can... this bike gets goin and handles. It also stops very well!
