I've had the Drummer exhaust installed for about a week and love the new low end power., but it is loud. The first day I rode (53 mile commute each way) without earplugs. I felt like I was under water for most of the day. I've been wearing foam earplugs for the past three days. The ear pressure last for only a few hours with the earplugs. I do have inner ear problems and have a hard time equalizing pressure naturally.

I like the sound and the fact that people know I'm there now. However I don't know if I can deal with the thumping pressure after the ride. I've considered the quite insert, but am worried it will cost power. I'm also going to try my other helmet. Any suggestions? Can anybody recommend better earplugs?

Thanks,
George

Schuberth and maybe stuff some extra foam in the pockets where the speakers can go to get a better seal around your ears.

I can relate. I have a Drummer on a little CityX. Now, the Drummer doesn't bug me in the least, I love it. Now, the Jardine I had before that made me brain bleed. What's weird is, I had a Beson, which everyone says is really loud and it didn't bother me at all.

I think it's just real high pitched shrill type noise that gets me. I think everyone is different and I think different helmets make a difference too.

Kevin,
I thought about it, but I really like the sound. I think my helmet is causing major resonating. Also, my Eustachian tubes (tubes that connect the ear to the nose for pressure equalization) open too easily. When they open, sound passes through my nose to my inner ears. I think the combination of the two is causing the issue. I need to schedule a small surgery to install tubes in the eardrums again. That should help a lot.

Living in the Chicago area, I need the louder pipe. Nobody has tried to merge into me since the install. I used to get almost dead a few times a week. The security alone is worth it.

I also have some new earplugs to try as soon as it stops raining.

Thanks,
George

Thanks,
You've already been a big help. I sent the payment for the shirt last night and should get the catch can, that you recommended, from American Sport Bike today.

If I can't fix my ears, I'll order the DB Killer from you.

For anybody reading this, Kevin is a nice guy and a good business owner. Order with confidence.

Thanks again,
George

Nothing like the sound of a drummer. I recommend earplugs to anyone on long rides regardless of their exhaust. I bought a drummer for my SS in 2006 and I still love it when people look when you start it up, or take off, or idle or...

I can't ride without earplugs. I've only done it a handful of times and I hate it. The earplugs make it so much more comfortable, and cuts all the "bad" noise.

With that being said, I may be ordering a silencer insert from Kevin for my drummer.
