Here's what it looked like when I brought it back home.

Good news that!! Out of interest, what did it look like pre-theft?
Might be an indicator to the type of individual who would steal a machine for use.

except it had my custom seat on it instead of the low.

it also didn't have the grater cut off, and it had a smoked tail light.

all my accent lighting was also ripped out

They weren't caught yet but I turned a bunch of stuff back in for them to get fingerprints off of. I only turned in stuff that wouldn't be accessible from outside the bike, so it should be admissible if they get anything.

WOW. I always just assume that thieves just rip apart what they steal.

How was it recovered if they don't have the actual guy? Did they just find it somewhere?

Sweet! That thing has been gone for awhile hasn't it? I remember seeing the stolen thread.

8 months, I was watching parts and have had people watching parts all over the country hoping someone would see stuff start popping up. But I've had people tell me when they saw it around town, so I knew it was still here.

The notes I saw on it said that it was towed from a business district in between intersections so I'm assuming it was on the side of the road. I also turned in a ton of stuff for them to get fingerprints off of, most notably a phone charger that had visible fingerprints because of messy hands and the seat covering had been attached with duct tape and masking tape. I'm assuming they didn't wear gloves for that either.

Hope they get the sackashit that stole it!
Makes one think we should be - either recording unique serial #'s for parts of our machines or adding unique codes to small parts that could pop up for sale when parted out for parts and therefore profit.

What's the deal with the MAP gas bottle?

Glad it returned, I hope they didn't wreck the internals.

Pretty sure the guy was buying stuff to make meth, otherwise I'm not really sure.

So do you get to claim any insurance on it for repairs etc, after all it's not the same as when you had it, cosmetics etc???

I had dropped it down to liability the week before it was stolen, I was putting it away for the winter and had taken it out for one last ride before doing so the day it was stolen. The money for parts would be less than the deductible at this point though.

Xopti has volunteered to tune it for me for free once my exhaust leak is fixed and one of my local guys (certified auto painter) is going to paint it for me once I have time to strip it apart and take it to him.

I'm actually more active on buellxb these days (organizing the flag rides), which is where they've all been volunteering the stuff.
