I'm going to look at an 06 Uly next week and was hoping for some info on what to look for. Known issues etc. It has 18k miles on it. Thanks

I've got an '06 XB12Ss, same basic frame and engine. Over 50K on the clock at this point and going strong.

I've come to accept changing the "lifetime" drive belt at about 25K miles as a maintenance issue. That's just my thing at this point.

Wheel bearings have been an issue. I've come to pull the wheels at my 5K service and pull the seals with a dental pick to wipe out the old grease best I can and pack some fresh grease in them. When my bearings failed, they were full of rusty water. Fresh grease will help keep water out.

The connector from the stator, commonly called the #77 connector is known for overheating and melting. There's an upgrade kit available. Not too hard to install, and not terribly expensive. Ask if it's been upgraded. If not, I would suggest doing so before you wind up stranded with a melted connector.

Some people find the heat to be an issue. I know there's a Uly specific kit to help control the heat. I've gotten mind under control with heat shielding under the seat. There's many ways to tackle that issue.

Also, tires seem to wear out periodically.

Forgot to mention that the bike comes with an new extra belt and has the rider comfort kit installed. I remembered hearing about an electrical issue, must be the stator connector. So check on the stator connector and buy extra tires
Thanks

By now the bike should have had the side stand and bank angle sensor recalls done.
But make sure they have been done.

If it's in your budget I suggest getting the 2010 rear wheel upgrade:
bearings are larger, comes with a larger O.D. axle
3 instead of 2 wheel bearings; 2 on drive side of wheel
proper weather seals (like you'd see on a Japan bike)
