I was out riding today bike was running fine for a couple hours. I stopped to get a drink and than went to start the bike and it was totally dead like a lead was not connected to the battery. Popped the seat off and the battery leads were tight the ground was good tried to start the bike again the gauge needles moved but no indication lights came on and no start. I continued to check fuses and connectors couldn’t find any problem and tried to start it again and it started right up like normal. Rode the bike about a mile down the road and the bike died no electrical again. Checked around the bike again and started the bike now the tail light flickers and the low beam on the head light is out but was able to ride it for about an hour stopped to get gas and bike started fine lights are still acting up this is completely an intermittent problem that I been trying to figure out for a few months now battery and the relays are new. It’s a 2008 XB12ss

There are two or three connections (cables) to ground. Have you checked those?

Yea all the ground connections are tight

Just because they are tight, doesn't mean they are good. Check your grounds in the harness where it comes out of the plastic guard on the steering neck. They have a tendency to break inside of the insulation. You'll have to separate the wire bundle and feel each wire with your fingers. If one is broken, it will flex very easily compared to a good wire. Have a multimeter to use also. Make sure you check the headlight ground from one end to the other also. There are like three or four ground wires that all come together before they bolt on to the steering head. One of mine broke inside of the insulation and I lost my headlights at night while on the gas. Kind of sucked. My blinkers and gauge cluster were acting stupid too. It takes longer to find the problem than it does to fix it.

Well have an update found the problem with my lights. I have a pin on the headlight harness that's not locking so a new terminal and socket should fix that problem. So I guess I had two problems.
