Author Message   Spatten1 Posted on Thursday, May 30, 2013 - 02:26 pm:        I just noticed an oil leak at one of my base gaskets. I need to ride 2500 miles for the Indy GP. Anybody got experience with keeping an XB running for a while with a base basket leak, assuming it's just weeping oil and not pushing out air? I'm just wanting to know if I can get away with riding it, or if I'm taking a risk. I rebuilt the engine with good quality Cometic gaskets about 8,000 miles ago, and everything was cleaned up and torqued properly.   Greg_e Posted on Thursday, May 30, 2013 - 09:36 pm:        Clean it really well, ride it hard and then see how much comes out. If you only see a little, then I would probably just ride the thing until you can fix it properly.
