Hey,

I think I'm going to have to sell my Black '04 XB12S Lightning ...

It's got 2400 some miles, 3 1/2 years of warranty left (yeah, I bought the extra 2 years), I changed to Syn 3 oils at the 1000 mile service, and added the Screaming Eagle high flow air filter, changed to Napoleon Bar End Mirrors and put a Drummer on after the 1000 mile service (love the Drummer). I also put a throttle lock on it too.

I put 1200 miles on it after the 1000 service with a trip to Surgis ... which was a blast! I was amazed at how comfortable the ride was, and the bike ran flawlessly.

It's in excellent condition. So, what's the going rate ...?

I just posted in the For Sale section, basically asking if anyone was interested in a bike like this ... so what should I ask?

Thanks.
- Bud

Humm ...

I was thinking the Drummer and extra warranty are worth, about, a grand. Lightly used bike, what 8000, 8500 ... so would it be reasonable to ask 9000, 9500?

Yes, no, anyone?

The warranty isn't worth much dollar-wise on the used market, but may push a wavering shopper into a buyer. Add-ons and accessories don't add much dollar value either to most used bike buyers. They may make the difference in them deciding to buy your bike or someone else's bike, but won't make much difference in what price they'll end up offering. At least that's been my experience on both the buying and selling end of things.

Knock about $2,000 off the MSRP and you'll probably be in the ballpark. I'd check the MSRP for you but I can't get into the Buell site anymore since their latest software site upgrade.

If you still have the stock pipe you will probably get more money overall by putting it back on and selling the drummer here. You won't likely get any more for the bike with it on, and some buyers will be worried that the pipe will be a legal concern (depends on state laws and enforcement levels).

WAS 10995. They shaved $500 off of it. I doubt you'll get more than $8500 for it, and even that might be $500 high.

Best of luck, though! As noted, you're probably better of returning to stock exhaust and selling the drummer.

True dat.

Is the extended warrenty even transferable / honored if one buys a bike that puts the original dealer more than a reasonable distance away for taking it for work?

Midknyte,

It depends on which warranty it is. The HD warranty works at any dealer. Some of the other ones that dealers sell don't.
