Well it's time for my XB9SX to get its first set of new plugs. The question is about the choice of what to put in. Those friendly Harley parts guys offered me a gold plug or the standard one. Is there a preference or a no no for plugs ? | ||

Personally, I wouldn't mess around. I would stick with the boring stocker. If the gold plug made more power, I'm pretty sure they would be standard equipment. | ||

On XB12, I prefer Irridium. I start and ride in the single digits and want all the help I can get for a non fouled plug start. I have even fouled them. But not as much as the stockers. | ||

Save money, go to Autozone, advance, O-Riley's, etc and get some NGK plugs. On NGK's site you can look up the part number you need and give it to the guy at the counter. | ||

I agree with Ryan. I get the NGK regular plugs at Advanced Auto. I change every 10,000 miles with no problems and over 35,000 on my bike. Around $5. | ||

stockers are all you need the irids take the heat well imo they work but no better than the stock plug (Message edited by brumbear on January 03, 2013) | ||

Information and opinions ! Good stuff... Turns out the goldies are not recommended for the 09 and 10 XB bikes ! I think the stock 10R12X plugs are going in. Thanks guys | ||

I just replaced the original plugs in my '03 Pont Sunfire with 155k miles. They had a gap of at least .080" and the motor ran fine. I hope my mpgs improve. Makes me wonder if plugs in XB's need to be replaced very often. Don't worry, I have a fresh set to put in my 12S when the weather warms up! | ||

I just changed the plugs in my 03 F-150 at 115,000 miles, just bought it last summer. Plug gap on the ones removed was at least .100 or more. I really think I may have lost a little millage. I wonder if it is because the spark isn't as hot. Strange |
