I'd always read that Fletcher's in Clearwater was the go-to dealer for Buell service. Sadly, they are no more. I've got my '08 Uly in FL for the winter (Pasco County) and I have an electrical issue that might be over my head (haven't had a chance to start diagnosing yet). Are there any remaining reputable (former) Buell dealerships/mechanics in the area? There's a big Harley dealer very close to me (Gulf Coast on Rt 54) but I don't think they ever had a Buell affiliation. If there are no proper former Buell dealers/mechanics around, can anyone recommend a reputable indy mechanic in west Pasco County who speaks Buell? Thanks. Tipsy | ||

I got my first Buell from the dealer in Lakeland. They actually had Buell accessories on the floor. Decent service for the 2 warranty issues I had. Guys in back owned 1 or 2, as did the owner. The disclaimer is that all of this was 10yrs ago ...... What is the electrical issue? Someone here can probably help, or give pointers as to where a dealer should look. Hope this helps, Dave | ||

Some kind of charging issue. I have the Heads-Up Signal Dynamics Voltage Monitor. For the final 50(ish) miles of my ride from NYC to FL, it was freaking out, to the point that it simply stopped all indications. It's possible the problem is simply with the voltage monitor, but I have a feeling it's a voltage regulator/rectifiers issue. Tipsy | ||

Lakeland or Gainesville HD would be your best bet. Both owners are Buell friendly. | ||

Were it me, and I had not had other indications of voltage issues, like lights going bright or dim, or engine running issues, or a CEL light, I would leave a trip to the dealer as plan B for now. I would put a multi-meter on the battery, and get a 'base line' voltage. Then I would disconnect the voltage monitor at the points it attaches to the bikes wiring harness, to remove it completely from the trouble shooting process. Multi-meter on the battery, start the bike, and check for 13.5V+ with the engine at 2k RPM. Check for same at 3k RPM. Motor about for 30-45mins, and do another battery voltage check. If it is the same or higher than the 'base line' voltage, the charging system is most likely good. Or, build a simple harness to connect the battery to the multi-meter with the meter duct taped to the tank cover. Ride around and see what the voltage does. It should stay in the 13.5-14V range. If it does, the aftermarket volt indicator has likely died. If not, then a trip to the dealer becomes more viable. And, as always, check the battery cables for clean, tight connections first. Thanks Akbuell...that's exactly what I plan to do. I just haven't had an opportunity to troubleshoot yet. Lakeland and Gainesville are both about 90 minutes. I was hoping there was someone closer (Fletcher's was about 30 minutes from me) but if those are the best and nearest options, I'll make do. Thanks! Tipsy | ||
