I just bought a TT and looking to set up the forks for my approx 190 lbs self. it has 08 style forks on it which i believe are correct from looking at pictures on the web but are not shown in the manuel nor is the TT mentioned as
HD often will not cover new models in the first year.
Questions i have are the forks correct and what are the base settings for my weight?
Thanks, Bob

Bob,

I just saw your request as badweb has only been back up for a little while. I'm at work now but can shoot that data to you from my 07 XB12STT manual via pm when I am home if that info will work for you...

I don't know of any differences between the 07/08 forks so if there are any hopefully someone here will shed some light.

Buggles, that would work for me.
Just so i know you have/ there is an updated/ separate manual for the STT?
Thanks again,Bob

PS, best wishes to all on the east coast affected by the hurricane, i suffered some minor damage and have nothing to complain about when many lost everything.
please donate if you can.

I need to get back working on it, I started typing up the suspension charts but I didn't get to the STT yet.

There's STT specific settings in my 07 manual which covers all the Lightning models. (PN 99474-07YA, it's got to be that YA version since, as Froggy explained to me, the YA indicates the mid year addition of the STT. A manual ending in Y won't have the STT info, same holds true for the service and parts manuals).

Page 71 has the Super TT settings.

Anyway, here you go 170-190lbs (all compression and rebound settings are the number of turns out from maximum):
Front Fork:

Preload Turns in from minimum 7, Compression 2, Rebound 1.5

Rear Shock:

Preload position 2, Compression 3, Rebound 3.5

You might find it interesting that the only thing that changes for the 190-210 weight range is the rear shock preload being dialed up to the #3 position.

There is a note in here somewhere (pg 59) for cold weather riding to dial the compression and rebound back 1/4 to 1/2 a turn since the oil moves slower in the cold. Cold weather is defined in the manual as less than 65* F. I left things alone until things get into the 40's or so last year and it seemed okay, though I failed to notice the suspension again until it did get into the low 60's... so I guess the manual is right, imagine that!
