Still I went and did a couple laps around town as punishment.

I always wave at scooters. They usually wave back. I feel like if they are on two wheels and have a motor, what the hell wave.

I keep my Buell at my shop, 10 miles from my apartment. When I go riding, I ride my scooter back and forth to the shop to get the Buell.

The looks I get from people while wearing full leathers on the scooter are PRICELESS!

There are a LOT more scooters on the road than ever before. My Elite 80 gets 104 MPG!

I even wave at bicyclists.

As do I; from either side of the equation.

I draw the line at vehicles that leave 3 separate and distinct tracks.

I just got back from a trip to Colorado a couple weeks back. As I was coming down the east side of Independence Pass I pulled over to snap a pic or two and parked next to a guy on a Suzuki Bergman.

If it's got two wheels I'm ok with it

I like to wave at the Harley guys who pretend not see you. Funny though that when I ride with my friend who rides a Harley they seem to notice him.

if i see someone on a scooter in the twisties, i figure they are out there doing the same thing im doing, going for a ride just for the hell of it and facing the same dangers im facing so they get a wave from me.

the squid commuters that just scoot to their day jobs dont get a wave. although, really no one waves here while major urban areas except maybe out of towners.

First of all I almost never wave anymore unless it is a Buell or a Crossplane R1.

The other day I was on my Zuma and a guy on a Harley starts to wave and then, when he gets up closer and see it's a scooter, we'll I don't even know how to describe his evasive maneuver. He tried to make it look like he was going to reach down and check something on his footpeg but I didn't buy it. He was waving and then decided he was too bad ass.

I don't wave because I hate taking my hand off the bar and re-gripping all the time just to acknowledge someone I don't know on a bike I don't like. I just want to ride, be alert, hit some turns and go home. I just don't like waving. I might give a head nod if I'm in a good mood.

I dont wave at someone unless they are in full leathers and proper gear. Or if its obvious they have built a bike themselves.

Man. I keep getting hammered. It was little more than a joke seeing as how I ride with a couple different groups. Many cruisers and some scoots even.

As far as 2 wheels period, I have to interject as the informal club is a club of people that share a passion for the feeling a motorcycle gives you. I don't feel that a person on a scooter in flip flops and a spaghetti strap with an automatic shifter, is riding for any of the reasons that we are riding. Have waved to many scooters in the mountains and canyons, cause they, like us, share a passion.

Sorry if that offended anyone. The tool comment, lol. I'm sure your not waving tithe guys on spooky tooths, 2 wheels though. But I'm sure you will say that u do wave to them.

Rubber side down fellas
Peace.

Darth, ignore the elitists... Not everyone can swing the money for a Hog, or can physically ride a Hyabusa, or like the unique character of a Buell.

I see more scooters and mopeds on the road these days due to gas prices and believe many of them put down more miles then ELITE bike riders to good to wave. I also think many of them bit with the 2 wheel bug will later on buy bigger bikes when they can afford it.

So I wave at everything, it is funny who ignores me depending on which of my bikes I am on. If I am on my Harley sport bikers are even surprised sometimes when I wave. When on the Buell I get attitudes from Cruisers since the Uly doesn't quite fit into a specific category.

Ride, wave and enjoy life!

I put 90% of my miles on a scooter, the other 10% on a Buell. It always floors me how sport bike riders in particular don't wave when I on the scooter. Harley riders are the most likely to wave back. Go figure.

We need to return to the 70s. No one waved. We held a fist up. Made you feel good. Didn't matter what kind of bike you were on. Seemed like everyone fisted each other.

Jeep drivers waved. Now you get weird looks when you're on a bike and wave to a jeep. Can I get an amen, Ratbuell?

I tend to nod more than wave , when I have my hands full ....
But there was one time I was turning left and a car cut in front of me , just missed me , and I was leaned way over in the middle of my turn , but I was so mad I was able to flip the car off with my right hand and finish the turn one handed . I was very proud of my skill that day , and bragged to my friends about it , lol .

most people over here in uk tend to nod, it seems harley riders only acknowledge other harleys so screw them, adventure bike riders seem to wave, i prefer to keep both hands on the bars and nod, whether it be bike or scoot, everyone has to start somewhere, mainland european riders tend to stick a leg out

Yeah Alan , the Harley riders are the same over here for the most part . I always thought they didn't wave because if they took one hand off the bars they'd crash ! Lol !
Hmm....stick a leg out huh.... maybe that could catch on over here....

Location has a lot to do with whether or not I wave.
In the city or dense traffic? Nope. I have clutches to pull here.

Out in the middle of nowhere? Always.

Certain demographics get my wave every time:
dual purpose bikes
Bikes old enough to have ignition points
250cc entry level bikes.

We got a real kick out of the 'scooter waving' dilemma one day. Buddy of mine in his pre-Bueller days (rides an XB12R now) was riding his Katana 600 when a Burgman went by us and waved.
When we got off at our next stop, he said, "Did you get a load of that guy on that friggin scooter waving to us? What the hell?"
I said, "But, he has more displacement than you do." He snapped, "Shut up!"

I generally wave to anybody who is, like me, trying to not get run over by cars. The ties that bind.

I did a lot of errand running and shopping yesterday. Nothing navigates the urban jungle like my scooter. And I can almost always park near the entrance. And the Elite has amazing storage space.

Waved at everybody. There are a lot of scooters around these days.

I only initiate a wave out on the highway where bikes are few and far between but I'll wave back to just about anyone who waves 1st. I don't wave to the little scooters in my city because they look to stoned or drunk to take their hands off the bars.
