I have an opportunity to get an 09 Uly with 317 original miles for $8000. Sounds like a good deal but I'm concerned about getting it due to all the problems reported on the Uly forums. Do all Uly's have issues or or is it only the people with bike problems that use these forums?
Anyone out there have a troube-free bike?
The bike is very appealing but high repair bills are not. Any help or suggestions will be appreciateed.

If it were me, I'd get one with a few thousand miles that hadn't sat for 3+ years.

Running regularly doesn't screw a moderately maintained vehicle up. Sitting does. And an 09 with 300 miles has done an awful lot of sitting. : (

That said, the 08+ model XBs fix a /lot/ of the issues with older years.

And yet I have one of the "awful, no good" 2006s....I've not had any issues outside of what I would consider normal maintanence. Only repair I had to do was a bad stator, which was possibly my fault since it went bad about 200 miles after I changed out my primary gearing- I'm sure I must have nicked it while in there.

If you can read a forum and turn a wrench, you'll be in good shape.

Keep in mind- not too many people come to a forum like this because they wish to report everything is peachy. The very nature of this and other forums is to report and help solve problems...so of course the ratio of problems to perfect bikes will be askew.
