I understand the front will drop (how much?? 1in maybe?) so I guess I need to swap the stock shock with something else: which would fit best? SS maybe? Can you install them without custom trees? Yup. But when seals etc in the forks fail prematurely, at least you'll know why...   Dcmortalcoil Posted on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 - 12:44 am:        I currently have CR forks installed on 2009 XBSs with OEM trees. I'm going to need to take off the CR forks for the reasons stated above. Only rode for less than 1K. But the CR forks and pre-2009 rear shock for XB12Ss seems to work fine for me. I actually was riding with CR forks and the tall 2009 XBSs rear shock. Surprisingly I say there was only like a 1/2" difference due to the longer shock compressing more than the shorter one. I'll talk to the supplier to be' 100% sure he knows the difference. Most probably he machined XB trees with properly spaced CR forks as my friends had no problems with them. Thanks for Your inputs, i also checked other old messages warning about the difference. Your experience with pre09 SS shock matches with the suggestion from my friend (S shock shortened by 1cm): old SS shocks are shorter
