Hopefully the new motor fixes all this crap!

Rickie.

I don't know which side drains faster. I'll read through the service manual some more. If the return path shown in that diagram as #14 is larger, then obviously it will drain the top end better, and it also doesn't have to fight with the venting "crankcase air" (what the Service manual calls it) to try to get back into the crankcase.

This all started when someone metioned the Blast! push rod covers, which I have a feeling we'll be seeing TWO of them in July. I still think that they help the motor breathe better and reduce puking. That said, I have seen some Blast!s puke at the air cleaner, because that motor spends it's life at 6500 rpm all the time.

This is great, it doesn't matter what topic it's in.

Hey Anonymous . . . REAL BAD WEBBERS don't really care what topic we're in; and we're also "men" enough to give our true identity . . . so don't be such a "tight ass".

Shoot Blake!

I just got home from work and was about to save Jose some time with his nose in the books, but I guess I will go to bed and check the situation when it reaches the appropriate section.

Aaron,

Your food for thought has me puzzled…Crankcase evacuates primary with poor scavenging, and crankcase tends to wet sump?

Rickie: with excellent ring seal, very little blowby, the crankcase can actually pull a vacuum. Couple that with a little sprocket shaft problem and yes, it pulls oil out of the primary. I thought I was losing my mind when I saw the first evidence of this (primary oil going away but no leaks), but Mr. Wizard confirmed that he has seen it before.

Then I got to thinking about all the wet-sumping problems this motor had and how much gymnastics I had to go through to make it stop. Vacuum in the crankcase! It all makes sense now.

Would separating the breather lines from the air box help to prevent this tendency?

Get ready. Anal admin is gonna move the breather thread to the Vault soon. Probably needs a subtopic all it's own in the "Engine - Mechanical" page.

Cycle Canada saw the new Buell during bike week much to the chagrin of the MoCo). Pick up the newest issue and read the editorial by Bruce Reeves.

I don't know where you get it in the States, as I have a subscription sent down from Canada.

If anybody REALLY wants to read it and not search for the magazine, I'll key it into the topic if I get free beer when I meet you guys! :)
