Fellow Buell bikers,

I'm looking for good aftermarket ideas for Buell XB. Ideas should focus in the realm of Billet aluminum, sheet metal aluminum, anodized components, polished components etc. I've recently designed anodized heel guards for Buell XB, and I'm looking for other good ideas. To check out my existing heel guard designs go to www.SDcycles.com

How about a nice clean piece of aluminum without holes to replace the strainer (cheese grater) on the back of the Lightnings.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm jotting down all these ideas. I'll see what I can come up with in the future. Keep the ideas coming.

1) How about some trick looking air scoops for the front of the air box cover, one on each side, for more direct air to an opened up air filter.
2) How about some shorty levers such as a two finger clutch and a two of three finger brake and adjustable.
3) A little removable backrest/buttstop for the occasional passenger on an S model
4) The perfect small but useful bar end mirror that's slightly raised.

I've got another idea. A front fender extension to keep more water and mud off of the engine. It might require some braces to be sturdy.

I was thinking of designing a Front pully cover myself. Biker_d , what type of machine/ software do you guys use to create these parts. If I sent you a drawing in autocad or something could you make it from that file? Is have access to use just about any 3d or CAD programs. I have drawn a few things for my buddies to burn at work but it usually takes them awhile to do it. Maybe it my designs would sell I could possibly get a free sample or some sort of commission? : )

Kmkommes,

I currently use SolidWorks for all of my designs. For machining I usually provide a 3D .igs file. Most CAM programs can use these files and interpolate cutting paths.

If you have a 2D AutoCAD drawing I can create a 3D model of it. You really need a 3D CAD model for effective CNC machining now days.

Sell a triple clamp similar to the Heli-clamp one but don't charge 300 dollars for it. Don't forget to tap the threads for the ignition module like they have then customers off by telling them to get it fixed themselves.

I saw a cruiser with some nice brake / clutch levers had blacked-out flames carved into them, but they were chrome, and would not go with a stock XB...

How about instead of just a solid fill in for the cheese grater, custom cut designs?

How about some heel guards that color match the bike and cost less than a new belt.
