Hey guys, need a little help, purchased from EBR the STM slipper and install tool. Purchased the Alto clutch pack also. Took it to my local dealer (they do great work)and they have installed this clutch and it slips, the bike goes no where. Anyone have any experience with installing the STM slipper. Thanks | ||

Have no idea how the clutch you have works, but typically slipper clutches use some sort of ball and ramp or wedge and ramp; when under power the ramp increases clutch pressure, when slowing down (trans is turning the engine over) the clutch pressure is reduced and slips. All a long way of saying maybe a plate is backwards? Inner face facing out instead of in? | ||

With such an undersquare v-twin engine with like ZERO Engine braking due to those enormous flywheels. I wonder WHY anyone would feel the need for a slipper? | ||

When you increase the compression ratio to 12:1, and you race the bike, the slipper prevents engine from over reving, and keep the rear wheel from locking up. | ||

The balls work best when installing if they're "tacked" in place with extremely heavy grease. I assume you got the EBR recommended springs for the XB. There are a large number of options - and the assembly is actually pretty simple if instructions are followed religiously. You WILL LOVE the slipper. Totally changes how you downshift and trail brake and turn-in. | ||

Well tested the slipper today, just going up and down the street (no lights, no tag) and yup the unit seems to be awesome, can't wait to hit Road Atlanta this weekend. I did notice the feel in the lever is weird, it is like I feel the mechanism working through the cable, wonder if this is characteristic of the STM or not. |
