On an 05 both wires coming off the voltage regulator are black, they go into a connector that has a black and red wire.
I changed out the connector a few months back and now have the new one.
I need to change my voltage regulator & I have a used one with the old style connector on it. I want to change the connector to the new one.
Problem, I don't know which wire goes to which as the connectors are different now and I cannot just look at them to figure it out.
Can anyone tell me which is which or even better, have a color picture of the connection so I can figure it out?

Also, does it even matter?

Thank you!

Yes it matters. And since I recently did this I know that the center wire on the regulator is the + wire (goes to red). Even with the wrap and cable ties you should be able to pull on that center wire and see which one it is on the other end.

They really should have marked these wires in some way or another.

Dtech, it took a bit of hunting but this link will help. I remember posting it some time back.

THe basic check is measure the DC wires to the regulator case - I've had one apart and the ground is connected directly to the case.

Also if you take the old connector apart and carefully look around it, you should see the letters A and B that label each pin. A is ground and B is +. On the new connector pin 1 is ground and pin 2 is +.
