I did not ask how fast you had your p.o.s R1. I was asking real bike riders!(buell) Where did I say anything about my bike????? I said search the archives. Kinda funny too, Buell rider calling another bike a pos. |

Which btw, there is no way in hell your bike hit 140 actual speed. Indicated perhaps, but actual no way. |

what are you talking about! See thats what I am talking about you think you know everything! Well guess what, you are wrong!!!! I have done it twice once by myself and once with my wife on the back so get a LIFE! Believe it or not, its your choice. Fact is an XB12 is limited by rpms & gearing to 135-137mph...thats it. Do the basic math & it will be painfully obvious to you. Perhaps you have never heard of speedo error?? DJ...negative? I told him to search the archives & then he started in on me..I did not attack first. |

135, quite enough for me. I will never use that probably. I want that low and mid torque. |

Hate to crash this party but there is no way its gonna do 140 mph I know and I own one(xb12s)and I have seen....well about 135ish.My bike has the Drummer,K&N,and Race ECM.I'm sorry but even the magazines have not gotten it to 140. |

I've had my 9S (with K&N, Race ECM, and D&D) just over 130(on the speedo). I had the throttle pinned for a while. I couldn't get it to go any faster. I gotta call BULLSH!T on 04xb12r's claim. Especially with his wife on the back. |

I have had mine indicate 140, just a tad over when it hit the revlimiter with the firebolt fairing and full tuck. Best top when I had it still a stock S in full tuck was 135 indicated at the revlimiter. |

"doubt it, but who knows!" I don't know why you doubt it after being told the math won't work, and for a new guy here you sure came out with both barrels. Take it easy or you might find yourself eating a steady diet of crow. |

I reckon the Squidly one of the R1 variety could have just typed; Fact is an XB12 is limited by rpms & gearing to 135-137mph...thats it. Instead of; Do a search of the archives & you will find this topic many many times. But by taking the second option he got to air his opinions/factoids more than once. Me, I just usually sit back and let it all go over my head (the senseless arguing that is) but today my period has started and I am feeling all bitchy. |

Perhaps you have never heard of speedo error??" "Hate to crash this party but there is no way its gonna do 140 mph" You guys are both wrong my XB12R will do 141.129 mph bone stock except for snorkle and indicators removed. It will do it for exactly 3 seconds then shut you down to 125 mph on the limiter. The XB12S may not do it I dont know wind resistance would be starting to play a part. |

Dana you got to remember that we also have Australians riding them down here and if you want a bike to go fast put an Aussie on it. Matt,Ant West,Stoner,Vermulen,Troy,Troy,Gary etc etc and this from a country with only 8% of the population of the USA. |

It's not that hard to believe that someone could actually get the bike to go just a few more miles faster than believed to be possible. Let's see tail wind, going down hill, perfect weather conditions. Then again, someone's speedo could be a tad off. Don't know why people want to argue over this, kinda dumb. |

I agree on all accounts Robert, but my figures are based on timed runs on the salt. My figures are also helped by the fact that the salt in Oz is at sea level and is as hard as concret, if you try to pitch a tent on it you pre-drill the hole first and use a 4 inch screw as a peg. So the conditions wher ideal. |

Paul, I believe the bike is capable of doing as you say. I don't doubt it. For someone to come out and say it won't because spec's say it won't doesn't cut it. We all know that there is always room for flex when it comes to numbers on paper. From what I've read and know, I knew it wouldn't hold that speed for too long. Is it capable of reaching it? I believed it to be possible and looks like you proved it better than anyone here. |

My XB9R with the Garmin GPS has shown 115 a couple of times but I don't do that much high speed stuff on the street. Been on Road America for Reg Pridmore's CLASS school and on the front straight it indicated 140 and the rev limiter started. Hey speed thrills... speed kills... Just ride! |

You guys should read the current issue of Roadracing World-the article about Cicotto's/Hal's Buell XB. They are getting trap speeds around 163mph on the Firebolt. Yes they have a chain drive (available from Hal's). Yes they have big bore XB12 and big bore XB9 motors and lots of mods, but the point is you CAN get an XB over 160 mph. It just takes a lot of money and work (and you sure as hell better have a good steering damper). xbolt12 |

i dont know what all the bitching about top speed is, you can only go so fast while your turning!! so who cares about hitting your rev limiter in 5th gear, i know ive done it a few times and it just pisses me off. how about riding this bike like is was built to be road. if you cant, shut up and get better! if you can shut up and ride hard!!!! |
