Hmm, I suppose if I told you to ask this in the quick board topics since this is supposed to be all about XB's, then im just being negative right?

Also if you would post a pic & tell us how many cylinders & if possible the size then im sure we could answer the question asap.

Dj,

Try this:
Kawasaki VIN Information

Dont know if it will work, but worth a try. If not, I agree with R1 post up a pic, someone has to know.

Are you sure it's DOHC?. The KZ400-440 had a single cam. If it's SOHC, and it's a '75, it has to be a KZ400. They came in red or blue. The 440 came out later in the 80's. The KZ750 (or Z750 in Europe) twin had dual cams. It was introduced for the 1976 model year. Maybe it's an early example. The '76 KZ750 came in brown. I own the 750 ('79, last year), it is a fun bike to ride. Maximum torque is generated at 3000 revs. They're like triumph Bonnevilles in their power delivery.

984, the bike i have is also brown, i was cleaning up the engine today, tryin to find the cc stamped somewhere on it, with no luck...it definitly has DOHC...ive got the damn title around here somewhere (i parked this bike in 1998 and it was sitting outside my familys garage until spring 2004 when i put it in my garage...i need a battery, clutch lever/assembly, new or used gastank (the one i have is totally rusty on the inside) and a new gas valve...right before i parked it i put a new chain, sprockets, tires and brakes on it, so it will be a good bike to ride around while my xb is in the shop, which looks like every few months; )
