For some reason I can't find anyone interested in buying my bike! Can anyone help me out? I need to move it quickly. Its an 03, blue firebolt XB9R, race kit, custom seat, saddle bags, clean! They are just not popular where I live - no one wants them : (

Bikes sell the best stock so I would take it down to just the race kit.

Gee whiz fst_tyms, you ought to be able to get $5500 for it if it doesn't have too many miles on it.

Not an option. I am getting rid of the truck and the bike and getting a car. Its just what needs to be done. It is my decision too.

Its really a shame how the XB hasn't held its value. Shotgun, suggested 5500 for it?! In one year, half what I paid for it?! No way. Plus I put a BUNCH of money into it. Just maintaining the damn thing. Other than the things I got for it.

A couple months ago I couldn't FIND an XB9R to buy. Or rather, I couldn't find one for the price I wanted to pay. I found plenty for sale but most were close to the price of a new one so I drove 350mi for a better deal. Look at the '05s for $8695, I don't think anyone will pay over $7000 for an '03 used with race kit right now. Buells don't have good resale historically, no matter how much you like the bike or paid for it!

Definitely stock is the way to sell, people aren't going to pay any extra for add-ons over what they would pay for just the bike so you're basically giving the extras away. Sell them separately to get some money out of them, like on eBay. Speaking of.... want to sell me the touring seat!?!

Also, what size is the jacket, do you have a pic? I know someone who might be interested for the right price.

Sounds like this is a hard lesson in buying new a new vehicle. Only buy new if you're going to keep it a long time. Market value is what dictates price, no matter what you owe on a loan.

Before I got married I asked the future missus if she liked motorcycles. She asked why, I said "Well if you don't you are going to be awful lonely when I go on rides without you."

Sport bikes in general have poor re-sale values, nature of the beasts they are.

I know I am asking a lot. The problem is I owe 7900 on it still.

To be blunt, it doesn't matter how much you owe. In industry jargon, you're "upside down" in the bike - you owe more than the bike is worth.

The problem is that in the current market, the bike is probably not worth that much for reasons already listed above. If you're intent on selling it, you're going to have to lower your asking price considerably and find a way to make up the difference so that you pay off the lien and provide a clear title to the buyer.

The easiest way to get your bike listed out to a large number of eyes is by selling on eBay or CycleTrader.com. I listed and sold my '04 FXDX on eBay recently. I took the time to put together a quality listing - with good pics and by the time the 5 day auction ended, I'd had over 3000 hits and sold the bike.

If you want to see how much realistically you should ask for the bike, go up to eBay and see what sellers are actually getting for their auctions. http://motors.listings.ebay.com/Buell_Buell-Firebolt_W0QQfromZR4QQlotrZ1QQsacate goryZ49984QQsocmdZListingItemListQQsocolumnlayoutZ3QQsocustoverrideZ1

(Note that at the time of this post, only 2 XB9R auctions have bids - and one of those is an '03 9R with only 1800 miles and it's current bid price is only $4050.)

On a side note, I would not recommend having someone take over payments. Most loans are not "assumable" - if the buyer defaults or is even just late on some payments, it's your credit record that gets hosed.

just my $.02

I wouldn't throw in the jacket, helmet and gloves. It really won't increase the value of the bike it just increases the amount of money you are selling in goods. The chances of having someone that wants to purchase your bike who also wants that exact same jacket, helmet, gloves in that size/colors/style etc. is not very likely. On items like these, you are much better off advertising them either in the classified section here or eBay, and at least you would be getting some money back for these items instead of giving them away.

Man, I've been down this road. If you REALLY don't think you will ride again, and you REALLY are making this decision with no regret, and you REALLY have to get rid of it, EBAY, and be willing to fork over the difference. BUT...
even if you remotely entertain the idea of riding in the future, you may be better off just turning in the tags, set the bike up for storage, get the insurance drop to minimal allowed ( financing will dictate) and live on. Believe me, there will come a day when you and your wife ( hopefully) will need a change, possible some weekend trips, little get aways. The bike could come in nicely. Even if that won't work, 5 or more years down the road, with your bike paid for, you may find it ( that particular model ) in high demand. Look at all the guys on this net wanting older models.
. After a few years without, you may just decide you want to ride, period! It will cost even more to replace than to keep.
IMHO, anyhow

That bike will probally go between 6000. and 6500. If the guy will let it go for that..Unless he just wants to dump it etc. whatever it may go for 5500. to 6000. I think this is pretty normal for bikes liuke this as well as ones with say 4000 to 6000. miles Sorry

Sometimes you just have to be prepared to lose Money. Eat it, that is about all you can Do.
Sell your bike on EbaY, and all the other items with different auctions .
Pay off the bike, and just be better prepared next time you purchase a high dollar item. We have all been there before. Live and learn. Good Luck

Yeah, I don't know. I am still gonna try. I am gonna put it on e-bay. I am also going to put it in my friends shop on consignment. I would take a little less to get out of it. Like 7500, but I don't have the cash to take any greater of a hit on it. I might just keep the bike and tell her I can't sell it. But she will be giving me crap on a regular basis to get rid of it. I would rather just move it now if I can, before I put any more miles on it.

My credit union would do a take over payments, only if the person got approved.

Fst_tyms, your last idea was your best! Tell your new wife you simply can't sell it because it will impose a huge financial burden on you BOTH to make up the difference between your loan and the value of the bike. I think everybody here will tell you that it is a very slippery slope once you agree to let go of the things that make you who you are in order to please your woman. If she understands that to get rid of your bike means kicking in 2 grand of your(plural) own to pay it off, she'll probably want you to keep it for a while.

In defense of Buells, most sportbikes lose value pretty quickly because potential buyers expect that the bikes have been used, well, USED. And to sell a niche bike like a Buell you have to attract a much smaller customer base than if you were selling, for example, a Honda.
