Opto I can say my ECM is working great,no reason for me to try the stocker cause the Race ECM is doing its job.

i've read all your posts on the race-ECM for the 12's,and on mine it all works greatwhen the bike bike was new;i ran it with eth 9R racecan and the KN-filter and stock-ECM and it run fine!now i've the drummer and race-ECM/KN_filter and it runs very well, lots off torque and power.

I have the Factory Race Kit on a 12 with no problems at all. My guess is that a ECM is good or bad nothing in between, so if the Race ECM has been confirmed as good then the ECM is not the issue. The problem has to lie elsewhere.

I just don't understand how the ecm could ever run lean since it is a closed loop system with an oxygen censor. Unlike open loop systems with a set injection map this ecm can adjust fuel mixture according to ambient conditions. Am I right or wrong? By that assumption, I don't really see the value of the race ecm unless it has a greater or more accurate fuel delivery range.

The stock ECM is programmed to run a little lean for emissions control. From what I hear pretty much all bikes are at LEAST when at 60 in top gear (or that RPM range anyway).

The race ECM not only changes the Fuel Map but it is also suppossed to change the ignition map. A slight lean condition can be programmed into the ECM. Closed loop is a set rating, its a set map that responds to the info it gathers from the different sensors. Open loop mode lets it run more free, but can still be controled because if the computer says optimum is a slightly lean mix, then the ECM will still adjust to meet that slightly lean mix.

Yes Dana I agree with what you say, and that's OK, what I'm asking is for one kind soul who owns an XB12 with race ecm to refit the stock ecm and report on any differences. I don't expect you or anyone in particular to do this, it's simply an ask. Most people fit the race ecm and pipe at the same time, so an independent assessment of race ecm vs stock ecm is extremely rare, and this is the info a few of us with race ecm's that don't work desire. And if it turns out that there is no performance difference on an XB12 between stock and race ecm's then that would be interesting to know.

Well, I was thinking... Opto and I are running a stock ECM. At this time I would like to admit our (Australian) stock ECM's more than likely have a different set of closed loop values than the US bikes... NO DUH.

I know mine runs with an AFV of 100%. Opto says his does, too.

Shortly, (when I get the muffler) I will be running a straight through muffler, K&N without air box and the stock ECM. I will be putting it on the Dyno... I will also get an A/F curve plotted for that configuration and we'll see for sure.

Once I've done that, I'll post it here.

But be patient, I have to buy the muffler first so it might be a couple of weeks.
